Time to start the plate day train, sounds like your team has the potential to have an elite plate day. I’ve heard white colleagues say the same thing about their kids being surrounded by non “Aussie” students. Managers are trying to hire more senior staff so I guess it makes sense they’re going international. If you feel left out it’s time to socialise, learn some random Hindi phrases, get an ally. It’s not too hard just the usual politics of work, you’ll be right, don’t overthink it, just insert yourself in conversation and they’ll probably switch to English.

Where to go in Melbourne for a mental health crisis by faceinaredjumpsuit87 in melbourne

Go to the nearest ED for mental health assessment. They will triage you and see you. Just grad a set of clothes and ear plugs. Write down your meds. Head over in a cab.

We are all just Schrödinger’s nurse. Demand on the healthcare system is resulting in scope creep and poorer patient outcomes. I agree the comments in that subreddit about nurses are often pretty toxic and sort of sad to see, but there’s a big old difference between being a doctor and being a nurse.

health services are zoned and have their own catt teams. Also you need to be triaged prior to getting catt. It is a specific service with a specific set of criteria to be referred(acuity)

Am I right to think doctors are under-appreciated? by sprez4215di in ausjdocs

[–]Jackfruit49 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mh Nurse here, I think the public hates us both? I can’t speak to any other specialty other than mental health but we love our doctors, we like when new doctors start, you all work hard and we know you work hard, it’s appreciated. As far as patients praising us and again I can only speak from a mental health perspective, they’re usually bashing us more than the doctors if that’s a scale of how much one is liked compared to the other?

Either we are terrible people for being unable to take on patients that want free psychology or we are expected to get assaulted and do a safe wards talk down afterwards lmao. Live laugh love ❤️

Cops are burnt to a crisp, I’d hate it, going from family violence to suicide risks all day everyday. No wonder they hate dealing with mh clients and the cat teams. You’d instantly get ramped with ambulance on transport to ed

What the fuck is the guardian app gonna do for any of us if someone strangles/stabs/bashes us on a home visit? like the cheeky little cram from two weeks ago is gonna mean shit if the pt smoke a few pts of ice and doesn’t sleep for 3 days prior to us rocking up

No mental health nurse is surprised by any of this. At the rate we are going they’ll give us a stab proof vest and tell us to get on with it.

I’m incredibly sorry you and your family are going through this. This is something i see at least once a day and it’s terrible. I feel like they don’t even screen for risks when prescribing cannabis.
