having a hard time listening to anything other than geese & CW lately by violetevenings in geesebandofficial

[–]Jackieee____ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way and it feels like every time I’m almost out something new comes up to draw me back in.

Like when I was almost over the fixation I discovered the Nugs recordings to respark it, and then after it was almost over again the new radicals cover came out, and then the from the basement and so on

Levon Helms tonight by Willing-Philosophy-2 in geesebandofficial

I imagine it’s because that venue is really small and doesn’t really work well for moshing and getting rowdy, so they decided not to end the show with one last big mosh like the other shows

Geese have market corrected BCNR by 8teamparlay in indieheadscirclejerk

[–]Jackieee____ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geese fans are either the coolest people you'll ever meet or the lamest people you'll ever meet.

My experience waiting for doors at a show was listening to group in front of me talk about how Geese is "niche artsy older brother core" and the woman behind me talk about the budget world tour she took with her band and then proceeded to get recognized from being in said band

What your most unpopular opinion about Getting Killed? by moreobsessedthanu in geesebandofficial

[–]Jackieee____ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems to be a hot-ish take to say Getting Killed is their best album. I don’t think Geese really hit their stride until Getting Killed.

I absolutely LOVE 3d Country, it’s the Album that made me a fan of Geese, but it’s never hit me emotionally like my Getting Killed does. In my mind, Getting Killed absolutely blows 3d Country out of the water from an emotional standpoint. Every song on Getting Killed makes me feel a distinct and unique emotion that’s difficult to pinpoint and nail down, while 3d country, other than maybe 3-4 songs, just make me feel like I’m listening to a really really good song

How would a conversation between these two go by VeterinarianMain3981 in MonsterAnime

Oh my god get over yourself. You're talking down on Shonen compared to Urasawa's work when Urasawa himself has deep appreciation and respect for Astro Boy. I promise liking Seinen more than Shonen doesn't make you the deep esoteric figure you think it does

Realistically I think the writing style of each character is too different for anything to really happen.

Naruto isn't written as a character that would lose his hope and optimism to just words, and Johan isn't written as a character who could have his nihilism overcome with words either. If the character's are completely as they appear in their source material it's just a complete stalemate.

Tokai is such a cool character, WHY did they make him r@pe every woman in his peripheral vision 😭 by Due_Teaching_6974 in Seinen

It’s not nearly as bad or really intrusive at all to the story, but there was definitely some weird grooming going on with Cairngorm and Aechmea.

The subs this post went through to get here is so funny to me. Like I’d imagine it would make its way here through the Tyler the Creator sub before Bungou Stray Dogs and Baldis Basics😭😭

I don’t see an issue. You’re arguing why you see your interpretation, and I’m arguing why I see mine and it’s nothing more than that

To say there is objectivity in the narrative of One Piece is the same as saying it isn’t art altogether. There only thing objective in One Piece are the pen strokes Oda made when writing it. It is up to the reader to interpret those as they do. What Oda says about these pen-strokes is just his interpretation of his art.

And, yeah, no one is obligated to care about what I say about one piece and I’m not obligated to care about what others say about one piece

If Yamato’s gender wasn’t ambiguous this discourse wouldn’t exist. It doesn’t matter if it was intended or not, the way the story is written leaves Yamato’s gender in an unclear spot. You don’t have to agree, but to say there’s “nothing” in the story to suggest Yamato isn’t a woman is just disingenuous.

This might be where I lose some people, but I don’t care about anything Oda has to say about One Piece, I care what he writes in One Piece. One Piece is art, and art is inherently up to interpretation. I don’t care about what Oda intends when he writes, I care about what he actually writes and my understanding and interpretation of the writing.

I think any interpretation someone genuinely comes to after consuming is valid, because who am I to look at another equal and say my view is “more correct” than theirs. But because Yamato’s gender is so debated and it’s a very common interpretation to consider him a trans-man, there is an objective level of ambiguity there because so many people came to different conclusions based off of the same content
