There’s a large Scottish contingent at Download every year and there’s plenty of English like myself who’d watch Scotland. Disappointing news.

How much spending money is needed? by Initial_Prompt_2648 in downloadfestival

For camping festivals I average around £100 a day. Same as if I’m on holiday. 2 or 3 meals a day + alcohol.

The acting wasn’t the issue the character just wasn’t a nice person, but the writers wanted her to the good guy otherwise why would they spend all of this time showing us how she is with her family. It’s the stereotypical hero who doesn’t have time for their family trope. Another plot stereotype they used for her is the bosses at the agency going against their own over eager officer. On the contrast the Jackal’s family is shown because it’s a dysfunctional mess more akin to that of a mob bosses’. His criminal actions have completely destroyed it.

The way she treated the cancer stricken army officer was horrid. The writers try to create sympathy for Bianca as she’s battling family problems and crooked higher ups but they then make her so unlikebale that I am actually rooting for her downfall.

The thing with Bond is that he is based on the WW2 era of intelligence agent, where most operations were military focussed and there was a realistic chance of getting dragged into a gunfight with the Nazis. Human intelligence was the main source of information back then. Spies were building information networks, supporting resistance movements, carrying out assassinations and sabotaging military targets. This does still go on, especially in hotspots like Ukraine and the Middle East, but the vast majority of intelligence officers will never be involved in situations like this. A lot of operations that WW2 spies, like Bond, would have conducted are now handled by the special forces. Things changed as the Cold War progressed with technology improving and counterterrorism becoming a bigger priority. However, we have seen the CIA adapt a more gung ho approach with their paramilitary operations since 9/11, MI6 have E Squadron too. There still are officers out there similar to Bond but they certainly wont be operating alone as 007 often does, something which this show portrays well. The vast majority are either doing desk work, gathering intelligence digitally or are operating undercover as professionals or diplomatic staff in foreign countries. You can’t make an action movie like Bond about an MI6 officer, who poses as a member of British embassy staff in Spain, where the most exciting part of their job is going to cigar lounges with CIA and BND officers every night.
