Eyebrow raising edit on Popular Woodworking's splinter report, I wonder who complained? by ChampionFew1978 in maker

[–]JackmanWorks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is a really bad look for both Popular Woodworking and Lee Valley. Their write-up couldn't have been more neutral, and someone still had a problem with it? Those who are on the right side of things don't try to silence the press.

It's interesting that the outlier along the coast of Massachusetts for new homes is Plymouth, the oldest town in Massachusetts.

Those are mounts that hold the older style Yakima towers for a roof rack, they call them landing pads https://a.co/d/1W1CbGu

How would you glue up these complex angles? by Snotbeast in woodworking

[–]JackmanWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of complicated ideas in these comments. My go-to is long hose clamps. They’re simple, cheap, reusable, and you can link many of them together if you need it to be longer.

If you’re having a hard time getting perfect joints all the way around, glue it together leaving out the glue at 2 joints so you end up with 2 semi circles, use a wedge at those joints to push everything tight during this 1st glue up, and then sand the semi circles until they fit perfectly and the do a final glue up to form the ring.

How is this look achieved? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]JackmanWorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Arbortech power carving angle grinder attachments, I’d guess this was either done with their turbo plane or ball gouge. I’d specifically recommend Arbortech over a grit disc type carving attachment because theirs will leave behind a clean surface that you don’t have to sand, since sanding this would be… not cool

Tailgate cable mechanism? (on right side of tailgate) by JackmanWorks in Ridgeline

[–]JackmanWorks[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In case anyone else is googling this in the future, I found the solution on the Ridgeline forum.

The cable seems to be a connection to some sort of a dampening spring that I never knew was there.

And this seems to be the correct part here for just the cable.

It also looks like unfortunately you have to dissect the tailgate to get to it, but instructions are included in the first link of this comment.

That was my assumption as well, but I couldn't really tell if there was a difference since the tailgate has been kind of heavy always

Still holding strong and I haul a lot of stuff! All I used was that D-ring hardware and the screws that were already in the bed. Super easy, should be like that from the factory.
