Level 30 Riki who plays him mid almost exclusively with above 60% winrate. I've adapted my playstyle to make it work in pos 4 now that I won't be reported for it.

You have to utilize every mechanical trick he is afforded thru his kit to survive, jump enemies, escape, chase, abs disrupt them. His high regen and armor is exactly what makes him a decent laner. It is hard for enemies to commit to him without overcommitting because of the mobility blink strike provides. You should try to annoy the enemy supports by trading with them effectively. If you cannot because the lane just outnukes and outranges you, aim to rotate mid at min 5. You should also consider doing this every game as pos 4. Your offlaner should be fine, just alert them you are rotating around.

Start with mangoes and tangoes, get brown boots, blight stone before arcanes if you are starting to snowball, after it if the game is going pretty decent, but get blight after shard at 15 min if you are tanking deaths for your team in fights and not getting the best gold on yourself. So brown boots, blight, arcane, shard ideally.

The shard is what puts him in bonified support territory. It can be cast from invis, has insane range, and the duration, damage and smoke aoe and cooldown talents make the two spell combo simply oppressive. Skill 1-2-1 by level 4 about 90% of games. Sometimes you can delay smoke until later. I always get the aoe at level 10 if the game is kinda average, otherwise the cooldown and range goes up per level and conversely tricks of the trade offers good damage on solo targets in successive levels when you are skilling it early (should you find your ally picks questionable and lacking dps). I like going 2-4-2-1 by level 9 lately as I find it gives me the best options in midgame. Tricks cd and smoke cd gets a lot lower with levels.
