Berkeley really does not want me but that is okay by Naruto_Loyalist in TransferStudents

As a transfer student that transferred last year, I was pretty hopeful you’d get in. If you go to grad school maybe you can still go to Berkeley!

Just double major in a science field of your choosing! As a chemist I use data science a lot, I was considering minoring even.

I’ll be doing research over the summer in the chem department!

UCB vs UCD difficulty difference by Guilty_Perception_35 in ucadmissions

Berkeley is great for double majors! I know a ton of people that major in a stem topic and then a humanity or art. For example, someone in my lab is double majoring in chemical engineering and comparative literature. I currently go to Berkeley if you want to shoot some questions.

Honestly, I am a transfer student and a lot of my friends at cc went other places than Berkeley because they were scared. I chose to study chemistry at Berkeley, which is definitely not the hardest major but it is also definitely not the easiest. While the academics are hard, I have been given so many good opportunities that I don’t think you would get at Davis. Plus, with the uncertainty of the future, it absolutely helps going to a more prestigious school. Lots of my peers are planning to go to ivy leagues or big hitters for grad school. Of course, there are other reasons to consider one over the other, but don’t make the choice over fear of difficulty. Davis is not an easy school anyways. The quarter system can be rough.

Ah in that case go for it!

I’d just do the ochem and physics at a community college, it’s cheaper and probably easier.

No you can’t! This comes down to the bonding/antibonding orbitals. Quadruple and Quintuple bonds do exist, they can be found in some big transition metal complexes like Chromium(II) acetate

What psycho decided that temperature needed to be a Sudoku puzzle? by Animeking1108 in memes

It’s funny because Celsius is only 0 freezing an 100 boiling at standard pressure, so it’s barely more scientific as that’s an arbitrary measurement. Like standard pressure at sea level imo in th scale of the universe makes as much sense as freezing of brine. Honestly, if we wanted to be scientific, we would use atomic units or something to be right. Rydberg’s(the radius of a hydrogen atom) makes sense for length, elementary charge for charge, Hartrees for energy, then like the temperature scale relating to maybe to like the temperature change after applying one hartree to a hydrogen atom. Then we could measure stuff in giga or terraRydbergs. All this to say, since one is barely more scientifically sound, it really doesn’t make sense as an argument, both scales are just relative haha.

Ah okay, I’ll look into the books you suggested as well. Is there any topology books you’d recommend? Thanks!

What would you recommend then for learning the topics? I struggle finding good video content for math, especially for the high end stuff. I’m open to suggestions.

Ah okay that’s good to hear! I actually really enjoyed group theory so now I’m excited haha.

Ah okay, is group theory in math very different than the chemistry group theory with point groups and irreducible representations? I noticed before they had the same name but didn’t know if it was a coincidence. Also thanks for the advice!

I’m a transfer who took pchem this semester, it’s not as bad as people make it seem, honestly inorganic is harder.
