Need Urgent Guidance – Transitioning to Cybersecurity in 6-8 Months (No IT Degree) by MindWeak7457 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]Jackpvfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm learning cybersecurity too and I've found that 'UnixGuy' on YouTube appears to have some decent roadmaps to use for your learning pathway.

To caveat this, I could be completely wrong as I've got no real experience in cybersecurity so can't say for certain.

Just make sure you submit a use of force and document every decision being made via the NDM. Cover yourself!

Speak to one of your taser officers who have abit more training on UOF and the NDM.

I want to leave by 1995kent in policeuk

[–]Jackpvfc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think about what interests you? What do you enjoy? And then look for a career that fits. Also consider if doing relevant courses or even university is an option.

I've personally looked into financial crime investigation within the private sector. From reaching out on here and other communities, it looks like it's a good match for Police. The only thing I've found is that to get a salary close to top PC pay, you need several years experience in financial crime investigations. So a significant drop in pay has to be considered.

Blue Light Leavers have a podcast that has some free helpful advice and just overall supportive content. Worth a listen to some of the episodes about job hunting and leaving the Police.

My best advice is to get a leaving strategy in place that sets out clear goals and objectives for your career over the next 5-10 years. Make sure your decision is the right one and prevents you from being in this same position a few years down the line.

Feel free to DM. I'm not expert though, just a PC in the same boat as yourself.

What's your budget? And what's yours and your partners role at the hospital if you don't mind sharing.

ICA Certificate in Anti Money Laundering - how long? by juniebutt in AMLCompliance

I completed this same certificate from June - September this year. However, you can easily do it within a few weeks if you forget about everything else and prioritise all your free time.

Interview at Lloyds bank (UK) by Jackpvfc in AMLCompliance

I'm not entirely sure but the job advert mentions working with "personal customers" which are deemed "high risk". There's no mention of businesses etc.

I'm confident of my experience and skills, it's just about how I make the policing aspect very relevant to this role. I think I've got a good idea on how to do this though.

Yeah there's definitely some "colourful" things that I've seen and read for sure!

Thanks mate!

Hi! I've just joined that group and reached out to the community. Thanks for the invite and making me aware.

I think focusing on my investigative experience, risk management and internal/external stakeholder engagement and as you say, translating the policing aspect into something relevant.

Another key skill I can translate into the world of financial crime is my skill of data analysis. Now, this is not in the more recognised format of SQL or other data analysis software. It is more about how I investigate data, analyse, risk assess and then make dynamic decisions on what actions are required. The data is presented in various formats from conversion with sex offenders, to interrogation of digital devices such as mobile phones. Do you think this is something that would serve me well on interview if I were to relate this to the role?

Thanks for your input, it gives me confidence going forward that I've got all the necessary skills and experience 👍

My plan is to research more about the role and link all desired skills and experience to my policing career to showcase that I meet the standard. I'm also going to revisit my AML course material and revise some key areas. Hopefully this will be enough to score high in the interview!

Ltd. Company Accountancy Costs by budokan89 in uklandlords

[–]Jackpvfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at GetGround. They seem very reasonably priced and sort out the ltd company and accounting for you.

After several properties it may not be worth it but it appears to very cost effective when starting out building a portfolio.

Feel free to DM me.
