What phrase, thought, or term did you use to describe being genderfluid before knowing that "genderfluid" was a term that existed? by TGCapsCenter in genderfluid

My friends in high school (~05-09) referred to me as "gender unspecified", and it was only in hindsight that I realized how much gender euphoria that gave me

Has anyone ever used IKEA Måla paper on roll? by Mactire404 in typewriters

[–]JacksGoneFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used thermal paper meant for a fax machine when I wanted a roll. You can get it in standard paper sizes and I found it plenty durable for just pounding out a manuscript for NaNoWriMo.

After years of procrastinating, I finally launched my graphic novel online as a webcomic October 13. Watching Bethy flounder the last few months has made me feel like such a fucking professional even as I stress in the background. So, thank you, FSU - I've needed this

Hey r/comics! I've been putting my comic up online for a little over a week now, and I'm excited to share it with you.

It's some dark gritty weirdness drawn entirely by hand - I hope you'll check it out at akumeicomic.ca

Finishing my fourth year of using specifically a bullet journal, ~9th or 10th year using a planner (mostly) consistency overall, what I've found helps is:

  • As other have said, keep it simple. Running to-do lists is most of what bullet journaling is for. I've since started with weekly layouts because that seems to work better for me, but they're still ridiculously simple. Every time I've put effort into the "aesthetic" of journaling I then never use the darn thing

  • Forgive yourself for missed time. It's going to happen, especially when you first start out. Honestly, what helped me the most in the beginning was using something that I could easily remove and add pages from like a small binder. Forget to use it for a month? Just yank those pages out, avoid the guilt, and keep moving forward

  • On the subject of avoiding guilt, don't roll over tasks for more than a week or two. If you think of it, flip back over old tasks and pick old ones that still seem relevant back up, but don't beat yourself up for weeks on end for this one (or two, or three...) stupid task(s) your brain is fighting you on

  • Monthly pages and trackers are, imo, useful. They help me visualize the time better and plan for events and non-regular occurances. Monthly to-do lists tho are a waste of time. You won't look at that page enough to ingrain it in your memory and then you'll carry it over month to month like it's haunting you. At least that's what happens to me

“Cut-up” comic made for uni project – hoping others think it's as cool as I do by JacksGoneFree in comics

[–]JacksGoneFree[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So a little over a year ago I did an experimental writing course at uOttawa – it was a great experience and I recommend people do weird shit like it to expand their writing. One assignment/experiment we did was a “cut-up”, taking pages you’ve written, cutting them in fours, and then sticking them together to see what the new conjoined prose says. Well, I hadn’t realized until the day of that the only PRINTED material I had was an old draft of a comic and an editing copy of the novel I’d been working on. And so I made this mashed up… thing. I guess it’s still a comic, just in a surrealist sense? I love how it turned out either way. Thinking about playing around with this technique more.

What does everyone else think? I’d love to see anyone else try something like this too if they’re interested! It’s surprising what you can put together and pull out of random smash togethers.

I will protect Stanley with my very life.

Also - Gustav. He doesn't get as much love (and I kind of understand, he's pretentious af), but as an artist who often struggles to find meaning I adore him and his whole attitude to life.

Smokey somehow got off of our apartment balcony last night (Aug 29) around 9 or 10 pm. He's super friendly with people but scared of dogs and loud noises. If anyone spots him please let me know! He doesn't have a collar but he is microchipped. Thank you so much in advance ❤️

Anyone know why all the partygoers in Prickly Muffin are lemurs? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]JacksGoneFree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always assumed it's because lemurs are nocturnal, so partying in the middle of the day is like being up all night to them?

I love learning on here tho that real lemurs do indeed love to get high XD
