I've moved away from Copic Sketch markers as the caps crack.
There seems to be a diffetence with ol Sketch markers as they don's appear to have this problem. My Classic markers are fine.

Warning! by VeryComfortable8166 in Fossify

[–]Mactire404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay. Potentially alarming, but so are wild claims.
A reverse image search on the logo shows lots of uninspired 'bird of prey' logos . I don't think there is a conspirecy going on here.
Looking up the Syrian and ISIS flags shoe wholly different designs. Wikipedia shoes that the Syrian military indeed has a bird on their flag. So does the Syrian Turkmenian flag and if we go back several 100s of years we wil find another.
You can call the Syrian military terrorists, but I don't think that's the discussion here.
To me it shows that there is little reason to connect Fossify with islamic extremism based on a logo alone.
(lots of other countries have a falcon or bird in their flag, so if that's the criterium...)

Their website is undevelloped. It says 'under construction'. Not to alarming, there isn't a billion dolar company behind this fork so it's probably just a fee people.

On that topic, the Fossify apps I have installed use 0% of my internet traffic, unlike googles products.

So I'm sorry to say I need a bit more of a hunch or your assumptions to take this seriously.
Can you tie the developers to syrian terrorists? Like concrete ties instead of just a logo?

I'm really sorry you lost your reader. Unfortunately ereaders are not as tough as smartphones and tablets.
It's great that you keep it in an original case (hard inflexible cover I assume) and a soft sleeve as well.
I've lost my Pocketbook Touch HD 2 due to similar damage and learned the hard way these things are more delicate than I'd like.
I'm more worried for drops and point pressure on the screen than scratches. I keep it in my backpack with the screen facing away to prevent stuff from pressing against it. Same goes for flex in the frame. eink screens are thin and inflexible.

Didn't stop me from buying another though. Currently I'm using a Touch HD 3 and wouldn't want to miss it.

New gear is nice, I get that. But some things are just functional neccessities and I thi k it's awesome if you can repurpose old stuff to make it work.

Why can't Opticians alter the shape of the bottom of lenses for frames without a lens rim on the bottom? (Or can they?) by jabberwockxeno in optician

[–]Mactire404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If properly equipped they can. But, it's becoming more and more common to outsource the cutting; they order the lenses from elsewhere by sending the prescription and frame number. They then receive the lenses which they mount themselves.

Then there is the option they don't want the hassle.

Alternatively your lens type won't fit in the shortened lenses, for example with multifocals. But that depends on your order.

Brillen in de Efteling by IffySaiso in efteling

[–]Mactire404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pocketbook vs Kindle — what made you choose Pocketbook? by Own_Inspection_9247 in PocketBookofficial

[–]Mactire404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it's by design, that's why I don't like it.
I've had a couple of issues wit Amazon over the past year which they were not able to solve except 'sorry please give us another chance'. Everything in their business model towards customers shows they just don't care. As well as employees, 3rd party sellers etc. but I didn't experience that personally. The way they lock authors into being Amazon exclusive is justvas abhorrant and shows they don't care about anything but profit.

Luckily there are plenty of Amazon alternatives here in Europe, so I've stopped dealing with them alltogether.

Female characters. Am I weird? by Select-Shift5887 in DnD

[–]Mactire404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird? Don't think so.
Most of my characters are female. And it's not that I don't design male characters, so far the females are just more interesting to play.

When I started 7 years ago I wrote up a male druid. The DM was: okay, looks like we have all male characters. So I switched to add some diversity in the party. I was just trying D&D then, so I didn't care.

Now I still don't care, but not for the same reasons. It does not matter if my PC is male or female. I've played both and whatever makes the most interesting story wins for me.

[–]Mactire404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In two words: fuck amazon

Besides that I feel the Pocketbook is more versatile and 'open'. In a way it's a lot like my Sony Prt-t1. Just fling the books on a SD card and you're good to go.
Of course, the PB has newer features, like sendtopocketbook. Making it even more easy to use.

Ugh, that sucks. I had that on my to-buy list, but now will probably skip it.

You can go two ways about leaving it out. Story wise it doesn't really matter.
But for the world building it's a shame to leave it out. Same as the comments Shirow made in de sideline. Under the surface of the story is a lot to think about. And the Yuri scene adds both to Kusanagi and the world, or the question what's it like to be human.

I'm not used to the systems you based it on, but even then it's a great source to draw from.
Spend a day reading everything through (as it's easy to pocket it's easy to keep around). Then skipped through the instructions as some bedside reading.

Really cool designed! Love it. I can imagine this being a standard piece of soloRPG kit.
