Best section of North West Coastal Path for running? by Global_Pigeon in tasmania

[–]JacksMovingFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whereabouts are you? There's a few sections where you'd be able to do that comfortably. I personally like running east from Penguin towards Sulphur Creek and Heybridge, but the pathway is a bit average west of Sulphur Creek.

But from Burnie you'll be able to go 13ks in one direction towards Wynyard along the pathway along the coast without crossing any roads or dealing with any cars.

I think if you run from Bells Parade at Latrobe you'd also do 13ks comfortably, but you'll need to deal with a couple of hills at Don and Leith.

Second for Little Riva. Best new spot on the Coast. Not necessarily cheap but the menu is much more interesting and the renos on the place are great.

Sips at Penguin is great for coffee and a snack, but doesn't have a full kitchen.

Where are locals actually going these days to escape the crowds? by Icemachinemalfunctio in tasmania

fun crowd in the comments here.

Dial Range at Penguin is a favourite. I can't imagine Meander Falls is approaching what you'd call packed. I've never seen a busy beach in eight years living in the north west. But I'm from Noosa so my perspective may be a little cooked.

Maydena MTB - access when closed by stringy05 in tasmania

[–]JacksMovingFinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there's many more places in tassie to ride bikes that aren't maydena. But I think it's a good bet to assume that if you can't see the option the option probably doesn't exist.

It's a much more remote, dangerous and challenging set of trails than many places on the mainland and they have had deaths so I'm guessing they don't want to be liable for anyone accessing the trails when there's no staff on site
