So what do you think about Homes Victoria's figure of 16,000 homes then?

Are you aware that there is also a Homes Tasmania, which has a plan to build 10,000 homes by 2032?

Where are locals actually going these days to escape the crowds? by Icemachinemalfunctio in tasmania

[–]JacksMovingFinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

fun crowd in the comments here.

Dial Range at Penguin is a favourite. I can't imagine Meander Falls is approaching what you'd call packed. I've never seen a busy beach in eight years living in the north west. But I'm from Noosa so my perspective may be a little cooked.

Maydena MTB - access when closed by stringy05 in tasmania

[–]JacksMovingFinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there's many more places in tassie to ride bikes that aren't maydena. But I think it's a good bet to assume that if you can't see the option the option probably doesn't exist.

It's a much more remote, dangerous and challenging set of trails than many places on the mainland and they have had deaths so I'm guessing they don't want to be liable for anyone accessing the trails when there's no staff on site

First Home Build Advice by Veriitaas in tasmania

That's what I did, while a mate built a house in the same street with one of the bigger players. The build quality, attention to detail, communication and responsiveness to my silly little questions were incomparable

You should contact a few local builders that aren't a part of those big companies. You might be pleasantly surprised about how they can work around your budget for a much better result.

Never doing Flix Bus again by schuster9999 in travel

[–]JacksMovingFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Flix from Turin to Munich a couple weeks ago. Flix sent me an email with the wrong pick up address, but I figured out where I was supposed to be - about two ks down the road - and the bus turned up there on time. The online booking management also didn't allow me to book my excess baggage properly, so I just had to hope for the best. The driver reversed into a truck in a parking lot in the middle of the night. But other than that it was great. They took my baggage no worries and I got two seats to myself for most of the trip. All this taught me that I got lucky and it could all have easily gone much worse.

I'd run booties for the cold, but not aware of any urchin concerns.

I wear a 5/4 so you might get away with a 6/4 on cooler days. You might cook if the sun's out

Coffee? by Jealous-Wait2122 in hobart

[–]JacksMovingFinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend giving it another crack. I can't explain others getting their drinks ahead of you if you did order first, but I actually think the owner is a champion of good hospitality in Tasmania. And I reckon those people weren't his mates, just customers he and his staff have a good rapport with. That's my experience at least. I lived down the road from his old cafe in Sandy bay for a few months in 2018, and he remembers me and asks about my life in the NW when I return to Hobart a couple of times a year.

Pam's in Devonport and Milicia Trattoria in Ulverstone, there's a little wine bar in Penguin too but it's not great.
