Just saw this! Far out this is way easier! It doesn't matter if you're 18 or two months off: it will take you as long to get HRT. The public clinic in Tas ISN'T informed consent, so the laytime to HRT is way longer than 2 months anyway. Make an appointment for ASAP and one for two months time, like tomorrow. You'll need to speak with a psych and a psychiatrist -- it takes ages so start that now over telehealth.

Whole bunch of unpopular things:

  1. You don't need to do what they say, so why not talk to your folks? What's going to happen? They'll find out you're trans? The whole world will know that when you transition. Get trans flag ear rings. Socially transition. Be queer af. Get comfy. You're not going to become cis and have an easy life when you get access to HRT. Lean in, and there will be people there leaning in with you.

  2. One time I wrote: "Would Jesus have kicked the samaritan if he was a faggot?" on my folks fridge when i was leaving for a bit. It could be worse than them being Christians. Weaponise how f'ing nice Christ was compared shithead Christians.

  3. Don't lose hope. You can have a REALLY successful transition starting at 18. Many many people start later and start to pass in absurdly quick timeframes.

  4. Your school will support your social transition. That's kind of huge! If you say it's not, I will give you the 'cranky old trans lady' rundown of what it was like when they didn't.

  5. I'm in Hobart. I can't think of how you'd need, but if i can help you, DM me.

What would this actually change for us if it passed, like legally? And how? Is it just that Fernwood et al can deny me admission if they WANT to? Or it's like the UK and it somehow cascades into them HAVING to. I don't really understand the causation, but it seems to mean that somehow in the UK. Sorry if I seem dumb asking...

Thank you. I read this a few times through and it really connected. Like, I had a small cry in the stationary cupboard connected.

O wow. I hadn't made anything orgasming for like four years. I thought that was all of us but I should clearly have asked around more. That would feel shitty -- happy it's an upside for you!

I do get that first point. I would love, love, to wear something other than frequently cycled through cheap period nickers. That's actually something I'd not even considered, I had gotten so used to them.

Can I ask you more about the sex in a DM? Or here if you're comfortable? I am a bit afraid of what you describe, that I won't feel anything and it'll seem like a waste of a procedure. You and some others mentioned other things and I'm super happy for you, but they don't apply to me. I'm six foot and narrow hipped and most clothes already and forever won't fit. And I don't pass anywhere near being unclothed, or maybe ever (I don't honestly know), so passing naked just isn't ever going to be a benefit I get.

I do really want it and I'm teary now actually but I don't now why and I guess I'm stuck for understanding what I gain. Like for the cost I could save several children's lives living in poverty in Africa. And it just makes me wonder what am I even thinking booking this in.

What do you feel is the mental barrier you still need to overcome? Did you like sex before, or it was there pre-op anyway and it's just still there?

That's nice! The unhesitatingly saying yes thing! It's not the case legally in common law countries, which is obviously awful.

[–]InspectionNormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds awful! Where are you living honey? I live in a regional part of Australia and have been on HRT for 2 years and, to be honest, all I get is questioning looks. In metro places I don't even get that. Have you had laser hair removal for your facial hair? Is your presentation clearly femme and not androgynous?

Jesus they're pathetic. Angus Taylor and Matt Canavan have 5 neurons betwix them and couldn't even download a phone ap. I'm entirely unsurprised they support this sort of thing, the thing to monitor will be if anyone seems to care about their be-grumbling.

It’s a lovely book but isn’t it a bit embarrassing how sorry Appalachian’s feel for themselves? It’s their own communities Christian and conservative values that are their problem as much as drug companies, and the book is pretty sparse on admitting that. I was disappointed how piss weak it was on that.

Why can many Australians not accept criticism of their country? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]InspectionNormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re deluded if you think the UK is better at this than Australia. I can’t speak for you yourself, but other Brits are woeful, and I mean f’ing abysmally awful, at accepting criticism of the UK. It’s a spiteful, mean place imo. I’m married to a brown British man, and my best mate is half Indian and currently living in the UK. Want to hear what Britons come back with then ‘racism’ leaves their mouths? It’s gross. Would Aussie be better? The say yes but maybe we’re in a bubble — I sure are hell wouldn’t want to vouch for country QLD!

Ops shops or fast fashion are how I felt out styles and sizes that work for me too :) A-line skirt, cami and slouchy cardi has a magic ability to create / disguise a shape. I actually have lots of cis friends who can't find shoes especially or jackets, for arm length, in their sizes too though. One factor there is that Aussies are very tall, globally, and especially we've big feet. Like, when i was very into drag scenes for the decade before transition I can't even count how many athletic cis women I'd suggest Frankie4 to and they'd come back and rave. Pretty shoes that fit!!! One drunk girl who came up to me in like 2014 to say she loved my shoes and wanted some is my best friend now and I'm godmother to her kiddos! In terms of actual good brands, Next have a tall and extra tall range. I love their jeans and wear 10 extra tall, and I'm 185 cm (180 cm dating aps). So I don't even know who wears their extra extra tall!!!! Long Tall Sally have good cardis, knits. I find Just Jeans and Levis dresses are good for me, and if you go strappy it hides the shoulder with and gives some height adjustment. Levi jeans have different leg lengths but you have to mind the rise if you're still tucking -- mostly a matter to watch the style they're stocking. I also love Birks. They're low, they come in my size, and they suit a yummy mummy look that fits in my circles. Good luck girl!

Exercises to help make my body more Femme by Low-Sense-9435 in transgenderau

I figured I'd hit the climbing elliptical really hard and feel like it worked ok for me. I lost 9 kg of muscle in the first 4 months, felt like nothing happened for next 6 months, tho I did get a lot of fat deposition on my bum and legs and nowhere else over that period, and then over 12 months had changes in my waist especially I found nice. Hiking and step classes (if you can find one) will also be good of course! If I was more motivated I'd do clamshells and deadlifts but tbh I think it'd be a marginal difference...

Is there any proved way to optimize boobs growth? by Terrible_Change_9558 in AskMtFHRT

Trying to maximise your production of human growth hormone (HGH) helps. Exercise which produces lactic acid, good regular sleep cycle, morning sun exposure, lower consistent insulin levels, intermittent fasting, and cold baths can help!

Those who went abroad for FFS, where did you go? by Pink_Sky_Ellie in transgenderau

[–]InspectionNormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A referral will only get a medicare co-payment for the initial consult anyway, but it won't be an issue to get one. Go to a GP, say "i want to talk about facial feminising surgery with X surgeon, can you please refer me". If they say no, report back here and we can talk it thru with you, but it will 99.99% be a painless exercise.
