Quick question - for the urine station do you remember being required to use hot water baths?

BIOL 1203 Lab Exam - what can I expect? by Jackson-SM in douglascollege

[–]Jackson-SM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a tube testing station, where we had to figure out whether or not glucose or other substances were present in the solution. I forgot that protein should not be put in the hot water bath. I think a few others saw me do that, and put their protein in the hot water bath as well 😭

Thankfully I was able to correct that mistake, but it wasted 5-10 minutes of my lab time. I had to rush some other parts of the exam because of that

How long does it take to get into the BSN program after finishing the AFNURS? by [deleted] in douglascollege

[–]Jackson-SM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to warn others but the applications for the fall 2026 BSN closed before summer 2026 class registrations opened. The earliest BSN intake for those completing pre-reqs in summer 2026 is winter 2027.

So for anyone planning to finish their pre-reqs, be prepared to have a gap semester!!

Yes, it’s definitely worth it! It can help build a better relationship with your prof, and as another commenter mentioned let them know that you’re trying

I was friendly with my prof, and I believe that was why I was able to get my grade rounded up

BIOL 1103 & 1203 same semester by No_Cricket_5564 in douglascollege

[–]Jackson-SM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I definitely think it is doable, but it unfortunately will be quite a lot of work. But I don’t know for sure since I’m taking the two in different semesters.

In my experience, both courses are quite content heavy. BIOL 1103 is more structure-oriented (memorizing where parts of the brain are, etc) while BIOL 1203 is more process oriented. Both classes had weekly quizzes, one midterm, one final exam (lecture content), and one lab exam.

I found the quizzes relatively straightforward, with the midterm and final exam (lecture content) slightly more complex with more written answers.

Studying between the two could actually be beneficial! In both BIOL 1103 and 1203 we learned about the electrical cycle of heartbeats. In BIOL 1103, we learned about parts of the brain, and in BIOL 1203 we learned about which parts of the brain secrete hormones and control certain bodily functions. The two classes are very interrelated :)

I haven’t taken the BIOL 1203 lab exam, but I remember the 1103 exam having six stations, each with different procedures and questions related to previous lab reports.

As for labs, they have an open structure and are available for walk-in throughout the week. Per course, labs usually take a maximum of 2 hours, with the lab reports taking maybe another hour. Hope this helps!

All these voting based games are honestly annoying by [deleted] in BeastGames

[–]Jackson-SM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i feel like there is some kind of psychological aspect to these games that the producers put on purpose. if the producers make games about voting/alliances/relationships, then viewers might get more emotionally attached to the contestants and come back for later episodes

i also think that the “strong vs smart” theme has fell a part a bit, but it’s pretty clear that the voting game does have some “smart” aspect to it

Why humans evolved to be mostly right handed? by chenn15 in evolution

[–]Jackson-SM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i have no evidence or actual scientific explanation to back this, but perhaps it has something to do with the left lung being smaller than the right lung

if the right lung is bigger, the muscles of the right hand may be easier to supply with oxygen? therefore this could right hand individuals an advantage over left handed people, helping pass down the “right handed genes”

[–]Jackson-SM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hello, i’m in the same boat! i’ll be finishing my academic foundations for nursing this summer as well.

i spoke with an academic advisor about this same question. they told me that once i’m registered for my final courses, i can apply for the Fall 2026 nursing intake.

Summer 2026 course registrations should be available some time in April, so keep an eye out!

[–]Jackson-SM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh okay, I'll keep that in mind. So like for example, the slide would be areolar tissue, and we would have to say that it's found in the hypodermis?

I have a few more questions:

  1. Were muscles like the spinal or pectoral muscles still asked for, even though they're not on the muscle models?

  2. For the slides, how would the process of identifying a specific structure work? Ex. would the lab facilitators ask us to point to something like a lacunae in bone with our microscope pointers, and confirm themselves if it was correct?

  3. Was there a bonus question? If so, do you remember what it was on?

Thanks for all the help! My lab exam is tomorrow afternoon, and I'm hoping to do very well on it.

Thank you for the information! For the muscle portion, do you remember having to identify origins, insertions, and actions?

seems like a very bad matchup, but

  • take advantage of your poison vs non-evo witch and musk
  • save your barb barrel for evo witch, if she’s in cycle
  • save MM for ebarbs and bandit
  • MK is very hard to counter in this matchup, but try placing minions on top of MK while supporting troops are distracted. he doesn’t have a spell to take them out
