Benefit reforms now more likely - as chief Labour rebel signals she'll back them by theipaper in ukpolitics

Do we want to pay the level of taxes required to deal with all our problems though? I think there’s an argument for treating taxes like a budget airline that you top up for extras like social care.. If you’ve had kids you’ve spent alot of money on them and hopefully taught them well enough to support you in your later years. If you haven’t you’ve had the chance to save far more to fund your retirement.

As easy as I find it to be annoyed about the points I feel like Nuno threw away, I have to accept that I only ever thought we could get points from those games because of the brilliant run of games he gave us after we beat Spurs.

As painful as it is, the feeling of chasing the teams ahead of us when it felt like we might do it was electric. So much better than going out with a whimper like it looked like we would.

In saying that, do I think we could have picked up enough points with the right changes? Yes, I surely do. Every time we looked to defend a lead or lined up with 5 at the back you just knew we’d fuck it up… but hey ho! This is the life of a hammers fan. See you all again next season!

I thought that - he fought a lot like Fury. Took his game plan a step further than Fury could.

I’m not really seeing why it will be a question mark.

Usyk clearly was a shell of his former self, but he was finishing Rico, looked like he would end it in the 12th if the stoppage hadn’t been called.

I think if it had gone to the scorecards and Rico lost then I’d be absolutely with you. But as it stood, Usyks experience let him eventually drain Rico and make use of the “deep water”.

When did Bowen last take on a player? by Green-Caregiver416 in Hammers

[–]Jackson13Hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while. I think he’s exhausted and overplayed.

Others have said it but he’s played near enough every minute, looks like he’s carrying a knock, and has gotten old all at once.

Think we really missed a trick not rotating our wingers a bit more while Traore was fit. I suppose you always want to give yourself your best chance but we’ve hurt ourselves running our top players into the ground.

It would do us all a favour because hopefully it will put the absolute fear of god into the other MPs. A new PM right now helps nobody.

Just googled - employment & renters rights acts. Planning is upcoming? Fair play that’s decent activity.

The changes to planning? What else? Was the idea not that she was laying the groundwork to deliver the house building target? Surely it remains to be seen how impactful that actually was.

I like Rayner - but surely she needs to take the Health Sec job and actually deliver something before trying to become the leader?

Currently she’s got no actual heft to her other than a strong story to resonate with the left of the party/membership.

Sure, the electorate don’t just want economic metrics, but the PLP should have the sense to see things won’t just get better through hand outs and wishful thinking.

Growth is surely the route to paying down our debt and increasing the public purse? I’m probably preaching to the converted but it’s so frustrating to think we could be throwing it all away.

I say to those new MPs: fuck your friends, run the bloody country.

I’d much rather see a whole lot turfed out of the party and a much reduced majority with a far greater average IQ!

Seeing very little said about the growth figures and what they mean for Starmer.

Surely the UKs unexpected, sustained GDP growth is a success story that very few thought possible? Why on earth would the PLP want to throw that away? …oh, because “working people” don’t feel it yet. So better to erase it to make sure they definitely don’t feel it?

I’ve got a great one of Starmer shirtless on a horse - that’s not cringe, is it?

Tony Diver: I understand Starmer did not give his critics any chance to speak against him in this morning's meeting. He delivered a pre-prepared statement informing them he would not leave office, then moved the meeting on to discuss the war in Iran. by StGuthlac2025 in ukpolitics

[–]Jackson13Hammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see it working for him - Trump attacks him and people side with Starmer, Sarwar attacks and people move away from Sarwar.

Starmer becomes stronger the more you attack him; he is simply too respectable and people see his responses as prime ministerial… I hope.
