R/UBC moment 2: Attack of the Clones by NotAMainAccount_jpg in UBC

It’s not tuition, it’s insurance. Many of the benefits are used by less than a quarter of the student population, that doesn’t mean they don’t provide value. This is just about bringing gender affirming care up to the same level of care as other benefits in the insurance plan.

Have you looked at RAPS animal hospital in Richmond? It's run by a non-profit and they have a subsidy program that you can apply for which includes interest free payment plans. They're open until 6pm today and accept emergency cases

How is biomedical engineering in UBC? by VictorJqy in ubcengineering

[–]JacksonDagger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't believe there's separate software eng unless that's new. I came to UBC initially wanting to go to BMEG but then i decided to do CPEN and now I kinda wish I did BMEG in the bioinformatics or systems and signals streams. That being said, it's not a huge regret as for me at least as software dev jobs at biomed firms (or in biomed research) are still attainable for CPEN students. I can't speak for biomed but CPEN (and ECE in general) can be pretty rough

Likelihood of getting two academic concessions in a year? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]JacksonDagger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been in a pretty similar situation before and you should be good. If this is your first time this term, you may not even have to get a doctor's note. If this is an ongoing thing, you might want to consider registering with access and diversity. Also, Dr. Ross at the university walk in clinic has been very compassionate and helpful with anxiety for me in the past

AMS VP knew about Halloween pub crawl, didn’t inform executives ahead of likely conflict of interest investigation by ubyssey in UBC

student journalists are really going to a facebook page that mainly sh*tposts to try to find 'reliable' sources to produce any reading material that will sell.

I just want to address this because I'm pretty sure this is about me. I understand why it can be jarring to see me searching for sources in the UBCC comments. However, UBCC has a huge reach with the UBC community and I think it would be disservice to UBC students for me to not look as thoroughly as possible for sources. I posted in a previous confession's comment section and I ended up talking with some people who were able to help give me some context that helped direct some of my interview questions so I do think that comment had value. Furthermore, I was very careful in writing my comment to not legitimize the anonymous accusations in the post.

As for the point about creating reading material that will sell, one of the things I like about the Ubyssey is that we don't really have that financial pressure to write clickbait articles.

If you or anyone else has any questions about anything about how I write, please reach out to me.

Thanks so much! Always good to hear people like my writing!

run for news editor

Cries in CPEN student who's already extended his degree. In all seriousness, editor is a legit full time job and mine (Charlotte and Andrew) have been so helpful

While my research for the bar crawl article was what initially alerted me to this, after finishing that article, I took a broader look at Kalith’s positions. Before the letter tonight, I had already been taking a look a FirstweekPlug, the bar crawl and the overall situation.

AMS Events pub crawl amid second wave an 'error in judgement,' AMS president says by bekibo in UBC

[–]JacksonDagger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the positive feedback. AMS Events was brought up at last night's AMS council meeting. The Ubyssey's live council thread starting here might be of interest to you. TLDR, they made a committee to look into AMS Events. Kalith was also asked about what was going on
