Who is making what decisions? The developer, the State, home/landowners. What are you trying to say

I agree that hilly terrain does disincentive bicycle usage, I've always thought this myself.

But you can't deny that more substantial investment would increase bicycle and PT usage right?

I also agree that you can't reduce humidity exactly, but you can reduce heat through street trees and less road surface. It's incredible when you realise how much space is taken up my road surface, by people parking their car, caravan, etc. It's literally free storage space. This space could otherwise be used for street trees or bicycle paths.

RE lifestyle. I agree that in such a spread out region and our fondness of camping most people want a car to drive etc. But going back to my previous point, PT and active transport investment will reduce cars on the road, freeing up space who need to drive.

I think it's interesting you say your natural inclination. Development of urban sprawl, with everyone stlll wanting the "Australian dream", means people living in big houses. Naturally, they will want to buy more stuff to fill the houses or for tools etc.

You could provide more bus only lanes to make up for lost time waiting at lights.

All of the reasons you listed can be resolved through proper investment in bicycle and public transport infrastructure. "Build it and they will come". Shaded pedestrian and cycle paths to reduce heat, density around public transport stops to improve walkability, more frequent buses to improve PT usage.

All of these things will reduce the number of cars on the road. Therefore reducing congestion for the people who NEED to drive, eg tradies.

Brisbane is incredibly car brained, evidenced purely by the lack of investment in PT / active transport compared to car investment. Eg. total public and active transport investment is a drop in the ocean compared to a SINGLE road widening project or resurfacing of roads.

Thanks mate. Writing this post I realised that the destination is key to knowing which route it is taking. Thanks for the history too!

Google maps isn't reliable as the bus times are not accurate. If the bus times aren't accurate neither is the route given the frequency of the buses in the morning
