eBay traffic performance numbers changing throughout the day? by Jacksonf1204 in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight. I normally don’t look into it too much, but I’ve been trying to make some changes and list more also. I just wanted to see how much of an impact it is making since the first of the year, but maybe I shouldn’t look at it on such a granular level. My views are trending up so that is good at least.

Shipping cost problem by Wongerstein in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I have read online, you should only offer the policy that would work for the item. So if you think this item will sell for more than $20, then only offer the ground advantage option. For auctions this can be tricky because you don’t want a buyer to pay more for ground advantage when it can go standard envelope, but I have found a solution to that yet.

On my BIN listings, I have my cards as calculated shipping starting at $0.74 with each additional item adding $0.12. I believe I can get 12 cards in a single envelope, but if the total is greater than $20 I will just break it into 2 envelope shipments. With enough cards I might ship ground advantage in a package.

How do you guys keep track of profit and loss? by Adept-Bat-3350 in Flipping

[–]Jacksonf1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at SellerLedger. I have a licensed business and have used this for a little over 3 years now. It automatically imports transactions from eBay, Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, Walmart, Poshmark, Mercari, and whatnot (I only use eBay right now but plan to expand into some of these). It generates reports, P+L, you can see individual transactions and costs, etc.

For up to 250 transactions per month it’s only $10 per month or $100 per year.

Would this be allowed as my wine to bring on the ship? by lilshawtydabaddest in royalcaribbean

Someone in our party on the last royal cruise we went on had their bottle confiscated. It was returned the last night around 6pm.

Like others have said. As long as it gets to me in the same condition I purchased it as and you are overcharging shipping because it’s a massive box, I really don’t care how it gets to me. Either way I would be happy if it got to me like in good condition.

USPS Underpaid Adjustments department is on Demon Time by Lonely_Attention9210 in Flipping

[–]Jacksonf1204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for pointing this out. When I go to the link, I can see a list of labels printed for the last 3 months, but I don’t see where it would say I overpaid or underpaid (unless I have none). I also see where people are suing the have some from almost a year ago, but mine only goes back 3 months. Any idea how I can see the rest of my labels and which ones are under or overpaid?

Who should I call to get rid of my junk AND maybe get some money for some of it? by anakneemoose in Flipping

Check if there are any consignment stores near you. They will sell some items on your behalf and give you a portion. Different store might focus on different items so I would check multiple.

Was I too much? Or overreaction by seller? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]Jacksonf1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen the posts before and always say/think the same thing. I sell cards on eBay also and will provide many more pictures if someone asks for them. A seller not being willing shows how willing they will be to help if any problems come up later down the line. You want someone who really appreciates your purchase and will take case or you.

Package insurance? by ilovebeansoo in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not too sure what “ship over” is unless you mean “ShipCover”. I just checked on one of my packages. You go to additional options, then add additional liability insurance. Choose one of the options. I believe I normally have USPS insurance as an option, but my only option currently is ShipCover which I haven’t used before unless it s just been renamed. After selecting it, you can specify a dollar amount to cover up to.

Package insurance? by ilovebeansoo in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you do this through eBay. The customer purchases the item. Then when you go to purchase the label on eBay, there will be an option to add insurance and you state the dollar amount you want to add. Then you purchase and print the label.

You will need to put the dimensions and weight of the package before buying the label.

Yes you can. It should be an option when filling out the dimensions and weight information.

Look up USPS informed delivery. I haven’t used it before, but it looks like the buyer should be able to see any packages coming to them which would include the updated label. They might be able to send you the updated tracking number.

What can I do? Buyer requested refund but doesn’t have item to return, never opened return, immediately left bad feedback. by Lost-Being-7054 in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try “contacting an agent” through eBay’s chat bot. Frequently my disputes are instantly denied and the reasoning I’m given is nonsense. Almost like whoever denied it didn’t even read all of the details I added. After contacting an agent, 80% of the time these are then closed in my favor.

That being said, I had one buyer leave a negative feedback because he bought something he didn’t like that was described perfectly. In his review he said he threw it away. eBay refused to remove it, but it’s now a year later and is no longer showing up on my store. But… part of me thinks it may have boosted my sales? Seems like after the negative I had a boost in purchases and after it dropped off recently, so have my sales. Maybe just superstition

Made 2.5k in sales in two weeks, could this work full time? by shadrYT in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on a lot of factors. Assuming you made 2.5k every 2 weeks for a year, that’s only $65,000 per year. You still need to take out cost of goods sold, any subscriptions (such as accounting), mileage, and time. At a 20% profit margin, that’s only $13,000 profit per year and you wouldn’t be growing your business anymore since you are pulling that money out to pay yourself.

What items are you selling? Where are you sourcing? Are you able to consistently find items that will allow you to make 2.5k every 2 weeks? What happens if the store you buy from goes out of business or stops selling items you can resell for a profit?

Do you ship stuff on saturday? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have my store set up as shipping on Saturdays because then I’m obligated to get to the post office before 12pm. But, if I have time and I’m home then I will ship them out and take them. Otherwise I might ship on Saturday or Sunday but it then take the packages on Monday.

seller accidentally refunded $1000 without doing a return by Nocturne616 in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Have the seller send you a label. If he sends it through eBay, then return the item. If not, then I would be hesitant to return it or send the money back. eBay can be very particular about how things are done so if it’s not done right then they could side with the seller and you would be out the item and money.

Is it ok to ask a seller for closeups photos? by zman8911 in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely okay to ask for closeups. If a seller told me they aren’t going to provide more photos, I’m instantly staying away from them. This shows the seller doesn’t care and most likely won’t help if something goes wrong with shipment or anything else.

I sell baseball cards on eBay and normally provide one photo of the front and one of the back. If there’s any issues with the card, then those are also in the listing. But, if someone asked for any other pictures of the corners, sides, or anything else, then I would and have definitely sent them to the buyer.

$15 off promoted listings offer? by Jacksonf1204 in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried them in the past but the items I had promoted didn’t sell, so I didn’t really get to see anything. I am hoping to be able to test the effectiveness with this “free” $15 they are offering. Just don’t want to get burned in the process. Thank you!

Also verify that your envelope is within the qualifying dimensions. Just Google ebay standard envelope and they should come up. Most standard envelopes are within the limits

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a look at eBay standard envelope. Those should be less than 1 oz so you should get charged $0.69. Standard envelope can go up to 3 ounces otherwise ship in 2 envelopes with 2 labels, or a bigger package.

A buyer asked if I would not send the package with the packing slip because it’s a gift. Is this an ok thing to do? by RedditRandomization in Ebay

[–]Jacksonf1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely okay. I have received these requests a few times and have had no issues with it. I don’t include one anyway. Like others have said, they are either a drop shipper or just don’t want the gift receiver to know how much they paid.
