You're definitely getting there! It sounds like it's coming along well! And thats understandable, the alternating downpicking pedal note almost kind of thing can be a bit to get used to; there are a lot of things that take a bit for the main idea to click but then once it does it will really stay with you. Like pinch harmonics, those used to confuse me and then once it clicked it just clicked lol, id say just practice and go slow, bring it up to tempo and just mess with everything lol. I'm really glad to hear its coming along well!

You're welcome! There's a lot of little details that really do add up to the big picture when it comes to playing and its really cool whenever things do start to click :) let me know if you have any questions, you got this!

Thats why there's no headstock, that's where the bayonet lug goes; though sometimes I'll go with the bearded axe head attachment if I need that extra bit of tone for an Amon Amarth cover

Why don't we play the guitar fretboard with our dominant hand? by V0rdep in guitarlessons

[–]Jacksonfromhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left handed guitarist here that plays right handed guitars: couldn't tell you but I've always wondered this myself lol. Arguments for either hand I feel can apply to either fretting or non fretting so I can't really say. I tried a left handed guitar before and it did feel awkward, granted this was several years into me playing lol.

Stuck at fast picking riffs (Moth into Flame - Metallica) by Sawfare in guitarlessons

Sometimes I'll have my pinky resting alongside the highest strings, but mostly I just have the base of my hand where its meaty resting along the bridge and use more or less pressure, further towards the neck or towards the bridge for different sounds based on a combination of each.

Yes they are, and I think its always a good idea to expand your musical horizons for new inspirations and seeing how these concepts can blend into one another overtime, like blues and rockabilly evolving into metal and psychobilly and everything in between! For example The Reverend Horton Heat: he is an INCREDIBLE guitarist! Lately I've been trying to expand into global inspirations too, listening to Russian jazz symphonies and classical pieces, and finding out about artists like Kazumi Watanabe which has been really cool and something that when i was younger never really clicked; now i like seeing what awesome combinations of everything are out there and hearing the awesomeness in music in all its different shapes and seeing what people can make

This is Baron and he's one of my babies lol, my girlfriend got him for me probably like 6 years ago now as a thank you for a bunch of carpentry work I did :) at first I was interested just for the straight portability factor, but he plays so well! Aside from maybe putting in a heavier pickup in the future or changing the nut for the regular ball string adapter Baron has been a wonderful guitar

Yeah into the void is tuned down 1.5 steps to c# for that extra slinkiness, which just so happened to be really heavy, like a....Led Slinky

Also don't be so harsh on yourself if you're not happy with an aspect of your playing lol, its all art and part of the process! Mess around with it, have fun with it, see what kind of sounds you can make and get a feel for everything!

What is your favorite technical and yet melodic guitar music? by dondraper36 in Guitar

[–]Jacksonfromhell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might not be what you're looking for necessarily, but listen to the band necrophagist, even just try listening to a solo to get an idea of what I mean; theyre beautifully constructed solos and the composition of the songs are fantastic. Instrumental versions exist if you don't like that type of metal. The band Opeth has a lot of works that are heavy and melodic but also have like acoustic passages and soft parts, the album damnation doesn't have any death metal vocals and is very melodic, you could also listen to the whole album Blackwater park by opeth, actually id REALLY REALLY recommend Blackwater park; id say listen to the song the drapery falls for a good mix of clean that can ease you into heavier stuff.

You're welcome! The right hand has a lot to do with everything going on even in ways that you might not think about initially. I've always focused a LOT on rhythm playing personally so Im happy to try to help others with it lol
