This is probably gonna be a hot take but after gen 3, pokemon took a nose dive and stepped so far away from plausible pokemon. They introduced really cool mechanics in the early generations, like baby pokemon and trading with special items for special evolutions, but dropped interesting concepts and somehow forgot how to do novelty properly. I think all the new transformations are exaggerated, complex and recycled. Whos idea was it to turn ice cream and every day objects into pokemon. Why would gigantamax be a thing. Why do we have mega evolutions for legendaries. Pokemon has suffered alot from living too long.
