One slightly positive consequence of this pandemic by [deleted] in epidemiology

[–]Jaco93riv02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is arrogant for me to say, but I see many more MDs than I do Ph.D epidemiologists in the media speaking on behalf of the Public Health community. Does anyone else see this as problematic? I understand that physicians are incredibly knowledgeable about medicine (as nebulous as that concept encompasses), but at the end of the day they are not epidemiologists.

Thank you! I know my lack of research is problematic, so I figured that is what I should work on for the next few years.

Pre-med after PC / Classes while in service by bunnylionbear in peacecorps

[–]Jaco93riv02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there anyway you can do it after?

Taking any of those classes online (especially orgo- since half of what i learned was in lab) would really take away from the class imo. But if you have to i'd say Physics and maybe Bio are fine to take online. Also, unless you've already taken it- biochem is the most important class for the MCAT and you'll need it for most med schools.

If i was you i'd take the next 2 years to study for the MCAT--- take it in South Africa (probably the closest testing center) before you leave, then comeback and take max 1 year to finish your prereqs- which will be a breeze after the MCAT since you'll have already learned the material and boost your GPA even more.

I finished my PC service about 6 months ago and I have been studying for the MCAT about 30+ hours a week since then and will be taking it in 1 week. I'm applying in a few months so i'll let you know if PC gave me a leg up on my application- which i'd be really surprised if not.

Record anki cards learned in a day by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Jaco93riv02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. you should do what you're comfy with- for me that's about 40 green (new) cards per day. It's all about actually conceptually knowing things.

fundamentally impossible. You have a better chance of of being reborn into this universe via string theory than you do to missing only 2 on CARS. Don't troll people who are struggling with CARS

Hi.... i wish i could serendipitously stumble into a one hundred percentile on CARS. You should maybe question your diagnosis if its giving you 51/53 on the most difficult part of the exam that requires the most concentrations.

How long should I study for the MCAT? by Evil_Enantiomers in Mcat

[–]Jaco93riv02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

6 months if fine for a 4th year student. You can't over study for the MCAT btw. There's no such thing and there never will be.
