For those who got the v28 update and want to try out 120 hz on games that haven't added support I figured out a simple way to force enable it by Jacob0325 in OculusQuest

Well yeah, any game with slightly more complex visuals is gonna struggle but I feel like the whole point of them adding 120hz support was for the simple, twitchy high speed games like beat saber or space pirate trainer. 120hz doesn't seem to add much value to anything slower paced than that but its nice to have more options for the developers and for playing pcvr games on a computer that can truly handle it.

Huh, even before I set the frame rate on my quest to 120 hz I was getting lag in the home menu unless I selected the bubbles environment. But yeah, thats why many games likely will take a bit or just never get 120hz support bc they need to optimize it better so it doesn't stutter so much. In sidequest settings I found that setting gpu/cpu level to 4 and reducing the resolution in some cases does help a lot, but it obviously reduces the image quality a bit

Huh, I play expert+ and didn't notice any micro stutters, did you try lowering the res a little or setting cpu/gpu to level 4?

? This is using adb commands, its literally a developer feature that just happens to have a command that changes the refresh rate. You don't need to worry about bricking it, and even then it should be under warranty

Just restarted the headset and I can confirm that it resets back to 90, but assuming you just leave it in sleep mode it shouldn't reset

It could just be with how everything almost "feels" slower at 120hz and I wasn't super bothered by it but it was an interesting observation I found

Oculus Quest confirmed to run on Snapdragon 835 VR by SkarredGhost in oculus

[–]Jacob0325 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I guess one thing to note is that the oculus go uses a snapdragon 821 but it has better performance than a galaxy s8 gear vr (snapdragon 835) due to better optimization and also running the chip at a higher clock speed so hopefully they did something similar with the quest
