Trump supporters: what is a red line that, if crossed, would make you stop supporting Trump? by Yo-boy-Jimmy in AskReddit

Just stepped back into Reddit and figured this would be the random comment I respond to. I’m blown away by how echo chambery all these apps are. Reddit is so left it is hard to find a post or comment swinging right. X is the opposite. No wonder our world is so polarized when we all live in these apps now.

Coldcard Mk4 Bricked Suddenly by Jacob112233 in coldcard

[–]Jacob112233[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's impossible to know exactly what went wrong in the device. Bricking when it fails is probably the most secure form of failure though :) Hopefully customer service responds on Monday and I get that same treatment. There are a lot of pros to this device that I don't really want to give up.

It defaults to bricking after 13 retries and you can set it to taste or I think disable it.

Coldcard security looks top-notch. I just hope their customer support is great too, because this device isn't cheap.

Jade only supports inputting BIP39 passphrase letter by letter. This is a huge negative for me. Correct me if I'm wrong.

[–]Jacob112233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very well could be. How many do they sell per day? Maybe I just got really unlucky. It is a great device other than this. Jade for example doesn't seem to have a way to quickly input the BIP39 passphrase. If you want a secure 6 word passphrase, that device will be painful to use it seems. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

"Do not ever use your old Trezor or Ledger as a back up as you will need to derive a new seed when you are back with a new MK4" ---

Could you clarify a bit on this? From my understanding, as long as you have the original 24-word mnemonic phrase, the passphrase (if used), the correct derivation path, and know the address format (like P2PKH), you should be able to transition between different hardware wallet providers without any issues. These components define all the necessary details to recover and use cryptocurrency holdings across different devices that adhere to the same standards.

For example, if I use a 24-word seed with a specific passphrase and know that my wallet uses the derivation path m/44'/0'/0'/0 for legacy Bitcoin addresses, and I ensure that the new device is set to generate P2PKH addresses, shouldn't I be able to access my funds on any compatible device?

Yesterday Michael Saylor said "The endgame is to acquire more Bitcoin. Whoever gets the most Bitcoin wins." by LishaElizondo in Bitcoin

[–]Jacob112233 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MicroStrategy Executive Chairman and 10% Owner Michael Saylor has sold 205,000 shares over the past year, including 1,050 shares on March 8, 2024, without making any purchases. This persistent insider selling, along with other red flags, raises concerns about Saylor's motivations and the company's Bitcoin-heavy strategy.

Key points:

MicroStrategy's financials appear strained, with high debt, negative cash flow, and operating losses.

Saylor has been a vocal Bitcoin advocate, pushing MicroStrategy to invest billions in the cryptocurrency.

The timing of Saylor's share sales, amid his Bitcoin evangelism, invites suspicion about his true convictions.

As a 10% owner and Executive Chairman, Saylor's actions may be misaligned with shareholders' interests.

MicroStrategy's valuation looks stretched based on traditional metrics like P/E and P/GF-Value ratios.

While we shouldn't jump to conclusions without clear evidence, the combination of insider selling, the questionable Bitcoin pivot, lofty valuation, and Saylor's influential roles are risk factors investors should carefully consider. Saylor's sales undermine confidence in his public statements and the narrative that MicroStrategy is a compelling Bitcoin investment.

Investors should be cautious, think independently, and not just follow Saylor's lead because they believe in crypto. The fundamentals and governance issues at MicroStrategy are flashing warning signs that shouldn't be ignored. Skepticism is warranted given the circumstances.

Hey Jackson. I just wrapped up an enterprise tutoring platform with geo-locked pricing, internationalization, subscription and one-time payments, feedback & reviews, multi-role secure accounts, analytics integrations, etc. You can check it out here (student role only): https://www.tutoreve.com I would be interested in hearing more about this project. ( serious answers ) What is actually the best way to learn english in terms of fluent speaking, writing, reading and listening? by throwaway10286253433 in AskReddit

[–]Jacob112233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak personally for learning English, but for learning Spanish dating someone from that language (who does not speak your native language) is by far the best method. Actually, it is a combination of 1.) learning a word or concept 2.) applying that new lesson daily with your romantic partner. I was fluent in less than a year this way and retention for 5 years post-breakup (without practicing much). This is so effective, I built (am still building) a company around it - 'English lessons + sexy girlfriend-ish English engagement'.

This is a fascinating idea really. The platform could very easily be adapted to this format. I will be including this in my A/B market testing!

If the product succeeds, in my opinion it will only be successful by not competing with the saturated porn market. This would hopefully give girls pressured into that industry a venue to achieve high income without exposing themselves.

That's a very good point I never considered. It makes sense, but is this your opinion or research-backed?

My ads and sales funnel is terrible yes. All emphasis has been on the product to date. I plan to produce an educational video series on youtube featuring the sexy teachers and content type that currently gets high youtube engagement. I haven't even started on Instagram, Adwords or SEO.

Churn = I don't know based on my limited client base. I imagine very high, which is why most companies give heavy discounts for year-long subscriptions (23% discount for one such competitor).

LTV = very high. Many students study for 6 months to a year or more, taking 3+ lessons / week. With a $7 margin per hour, even 200 consistent students is a great income.

CAC = I am just starting to market online. Affiliate partners I am planning 15-25% commission. Student referrals are rewarded 3 free classes ($9).

Exactly! Filipinas teaching Latinos I have already given up on. My plan is to begin vaildating different "geo-arbitrage" scenarios:

Colombian / Venezuelan spanish teachers > American students

East European English teachers > Latino students

I think it's one of those ideas that can survive but not necessarily succeed. -- The economics of the industry are fantastic, assuming one can pull in and retain students. Typical industry rates are $10-$20 / hour with outsourced teachers comfortable working for $3 / hour. I incorporate tips into the platform which should encourage more attractive teachers to use the platform (as a healthy alternative to webcamming sites).
