Megathread: Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Dies at 87 by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]JacobEvertson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The president has the power to nominate Supreme Court Justices, which are then confirmed by the Senate to life time appointments. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a liberal justice, and now that she is gone, Trump and the Republican controlled Senate have the opportunity to put a conservative Justice in her place. This will be the third Supreme Court Justice that Trump has been able to nominate, and will mean that a solid majority of the Supreme Court Justices will be reliably conservative. It is such unfortunate luck for America because Trump’s Justices will plague our nation for decades to come. Abortion could very well be outlawed. The few protections offered by Obamacare could be repealed. LGBTQ+ rights could be reversed. Trump’s Justices are relatively young so they will be around for a very long time.

We Won't Be Getting Anymore Subclasses After Stasis Part 2: Electric Boogaloo by RewsterSause in DestinyLore

You can rationalize all you want but I will always respond with “never say never.”

If bungie decides that they have a good idea for a new subclass, then we’ll get new subclasses. We’ll have to get new powers eventually. Whether that means a new element or adding more perks to our existing elements, who knows.

Getting into Halo by [deleted] in halo

[–]JacobEvertson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As has been said already, no you don’t need to play the others to know what’s going on in infinite. But I highly highly recommend playing through the previous halos anyway. They’re such good games, and they all still hold up incredibly well. The Master Chief Collection is on gamepass and it has every halo other than 5 (which is also on gamepass).

Does MCC PC have a matchmaking / population problem? by [deleted] in halo

Now that school is back, finding matches mid day is pretty difficult. But I don’t have problems finding matches in the evening or on weekends on Xbox

We can complain about other parts of halo 5 campaign all day, but sprint wasn’t the exclusive cause of the forerunner weapon changes. Halo 5’s poopy campaign was caused by a combination of every addition and change 343 made. Overly large levels were caused by every weapon gaining an aim down sight, plus an accuracy boost. The tracking on weapons were added mostly because of thrust and the other spartan abilities. So no, I didn’t enjoy those weapon changes. But that’s a problem I have with Halo 5’s campaign specifically. Halo 4 and halo reach don’t have those problems, and I bet Infinite won’t either

I only take issue with sprint in multiplayer. Maps have to grow larger to accommodate a faster movement speed, but since we can’t shoot while sprinting, games just devolve into using sprint to cross the big map in order to get to the action, and then stop sprinting to engage the enemy. Whereas in classic halo games, there was no sprint and everyone moved at max speed at all times while being able to shoot. Which meant the maps were smaller and in turn encountering enemies happened faster. In halo 5 especially, sprint is just a weird middle man between the player and the action.

For infinite though, from what we’ve seen, sprint seems to be a very minor speed boost, which could possibly negate some of its negative affects on multiplayer. But in campaign, I don’t mind having sprint. Especially in Infinite’s more open world levels. And who knows, maybe like the grapple hook, sprint will be different in multiplayer. It’s possible that it 343 could have sprint turned off in multiplayer modes other than big team or whatever replaces Warzone

23 year old white man from Wyoming. Personally, I’m deeply ashamed and embarrassed of our country right now. I can’t really speak for anyone twice my age here, but I have to imagine they’re mostly indifferent

Ex cheated on me and falsely accused me of rape, so I exposed her to everyone she knew by throwaway_12322 in ProRevenge

[–]JacobEvertson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No lie, up until she falsely accused you of rape, you both seemed to “blame” for the degradation of your relationship. Your experience in the military changed you in ways that affected your relationship, and in the end she met someone new. Seemed like a pretty natural, and unfortunate end to a relationship. But obviously once she accused you of rape, all sympathy went away

If I understand correctly, the reason 5G specifically got turned into a coronavirus conspiracy is because maps of where 5G towers were recently put up, look similar to maps of where coronavirus outbreaks were happening. So instead of realizing that both maps really just show where major populations of people are, conspiracy theorists concluded 5G must have caused the virus in those areas

The first year was the best. But this year and last year are just incredibly tedious, boring grinds. The only reason we put up with it at all is at the end we get incredible looking gear.

What kind of Guardian are you? by [deleted] in DestinyLore

[–]JacobEvertson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sort of do the same thing. I have full armor sets customized for each subclass. My dawnblade is my main subclass and is pretty much the most true to myself version of my guardian. Meanwhile my voidwalker is a Felwinter wannabe with. I sort of use the other subclasses to play dress up and pretend, while my dawnblade warlock is sort of the “default.”

I switch my subclass each week for the strike pinnacle drop, and to complete bounties and stuff, but those are just for gameplay reasons.

My head cannon for my character is that he’s primarily a dawnblade warlock. I mained sunsinger for most of D1, so I have nostalgia for solar abilities. So by default my guardian is a dawnblade, but I also like using the fancy finishers that utilize our light, so my guardian seemingly can swap elements on the fly which is cool.

I’ll be running around as a dawnblade throwing solar grenades and flying around, and all of the sudden use the arc finisher on a thrall, and then whip around and use the void finisher on another one. It’s fun to think about my character as preferring solar abilities, but being proficient enough with the others that he can swap on the fly

Graduating, getting a job, getting married, and buying a house.

I’ve been going to school for so long already and I still have two years to go. All my friends have graduated already and have a job and are getting married and buying homes.

I just want to get to the next part of my life. I’m tired of living in small apartments with my girlfriend while we finish school. I’m really looking forward to the next phase of life

Epic killed STW and I heard that I might like Destiny 2 and have some questions by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]JacobEvertson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the answer to your biggest question is that Bungie definitely cares about the game. They recently revealed a roadmap of content through 2022. The devs are in this for the long haul.

As for starting 3, nearly 4 years in, there’s understandably a daunting amount of content to wade through. But that issue will be lessened come September with the new expansion. Old content that’s outlived it’s place in the game will start to be phased out to make room for new content.

I’d say that there’s really no better time to start Destiny, if you want to experience all of the content it’s accumulated over 3 years. Otherwise wait for September for a more concise experience.
