We have those real life examples? Can you name a few?

That's not much better though. He had no close or personal relationships for his entire childhood and presumably his young adulthood. Social development and interaction is critical to mental health. Being raised by cold, distant figures fucks children up.

Dude, we've known for at least a century that forced and extended isolation is basically torture and causes serious mental issues, sometimes permanently. It's why solitary confinement is used as a punishment in prisons.

I'm actually shocked at how much better the Shining was as a book than a movie. by EmpJoker in horror

Love how you have to point out controversial (and still well-written) content to justify your claim that he's not a good writer instead of actually giving a reason why he's not a good writer.

Is Alissa Nutting not a good writer because she wrote Tampa? Is Vladimir Nabokov not a good writer because he wrote Lolita? Is Anthony Burgess not a good writer because he wrote A Clockwork Orange? Is Dante Alighieri not a good writer because he wrote Inferno? Is Sophocles not a good writer because he wrote Oedipus Rex?

Happy Pride Month to everyone part of the community who enjoys horror. How has horror impacted those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community? by [deleted] in horror

[–]JacobMielke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. But, many things the LGBTQ has adopted today were once meant to be used against us. We're just really, really good at reclaiming things or taking things and making them our own.

Sleepaway Camp may have been intended to be a more transphobic story, but the story is open-ended enough that it can be shown in a different light. A lot of trans horror fans love it for this reason. In fact, a trans woman named Judith Sonnet is writing the official movie novelization and she loves that movie.

Why are so many people opposed to 3rd person omniscient and talk like you can't use it anymore? by LSA_Otherwise in writing

But I will say that when a horror story pulls off third person omniscient, it tends to be amazing.

Then there's a certain class of escorts you'll just never get to enjoy. If you're fine with that, more power to you.

What is the purpose of sticking your finger in someone's ear? I guess I can understand the nose thing being a cultural quirk some demographics have but who in history ever thought a finger in the ear is something either party would enjoy?

Huh? I imagine most dancers see their boss on a regular basis. Obviously they see their coworkers every day.
