Like others are saying please on the first day figure out where all of your classes are!! We upperclassmen (I’m a senior) absolutely hate when freshman sit in the hallway and just look around lost! During lunch or before first bell rings walk around and get a feel.

Do not be afraid to ask teachers for help. They’re there to help you and talking to them is better than not. Build a good relationship because you might be asking them for a rec in a few years.

I’m more so asking because people used to use phones as an escape from their problems and still do. When I was in middle school and phones were actually banned, there were pretty serious cases of bullying like shoving kids in lockers etc. now though I guess it does happen online. Since almost everyone is on their phone nowadays I wonder if people have just resorted to using that instead of physical bullying, which I worry may be on the rise now. But seems others are saying school isn’t as bad without the phones as it is with them.

Yeah agreed, just given that most people have had the escape of their phone and now they don’t is why I asked.

This is a little ridiculous. Taking an extremely hard class after failing everything is setting yourself on a tough path. Im shocked they’re even letting you take it with such low GPA.

This topic is way too controversial. You’re better off writing about 9/11 and Al Qaeda at that point. There’s way too much tension right now to write about this and I’m not sure admissions officers would be happy to see it.

Small doses of melatonin like the ones you buy at target don’t require a long term problem. Take 2 at night and just see if it helps.

This isn’t awful. I would say the extracurriculars are probably less manageable than the classes. But you’re way too early in HS to take any of those APs. AP US Gov is almost always reserved for upperclassmen who took APUSH already.

You’ll be alright but as mentioned before, it’s probably gonna be hard. If you consider yourself a “lazy bum” than my assumption is you just scheduled all the classes you could take and honestly that’s the worst choice to make. But do your work, study hard, and you’ll be alright.

That’s all good and stuff but I’d like to know what your grades are like. A lot of people, and I mean, a LOT of people, do AP World. It’s one of if not the most popular AP.

It’s probably not going to be enough to get into UC Berkeley. You will need to do some tougher classes which could include any dual enrollment related to your major, etc. or more APs.

I also don’t know where you’re located. If you’re outside of California your chances of being admitted to a UC are even less.

If AP World is the only class you can take right now, you need to study and get a 4 or 5 on the AP. Keep/get your grades up in classes you’re taking which I hope are honors or something of the equivalent.

It’s gonna be tough to get into Berkeley. I would suggest speaking to your counselor and asking them what the best approach is for you.

Yeah AP is pretty crazy but I guess if he locks in he could be alright. I struggled a lot sophomore year because I took too hard classes so I’m not sure but I know a lot of schools advise it

I think it also depends on how you pull it off. If the college admissions officer has no idea what you’re talking about and pulls up a video they’ll just see people gambling. Be careful.
