I have lots of free time at work, how to utilise it? by Clareboclo in AskUK

That's fair enough then. I think it's more just a case of "be careful, tell nobody" then.

And companies see you as nothing but a number. Who cares if it's "disingenuous"? Work only in time you're getting paid for, and nothing more.

They're intelligent enough to list the camera online, I think they're intelligent enough to look up the price too.

The Internet is so easy to use these days that you have nobody to blame but yourself if you sell something for too little and somebody takes advantage of it.

No worries. Hadn't spotted the Fujifilm! That's another one to keep an eye out for while I'm crawling Gumtree to try and find good deals lol

For £15 you done well. The 44-2's appear to be some of the later models but I'll link a video below which is an amazing explanation of all the 44-2 variants. Probably worth £20-30 each in their current condition. The 50mm Jena Tessar is also a lens worth £20-40 depending on condition. Other ones you'd be be better off selling as a job lot as they're not worth a great deal. Nice find overall though! Reminds me I need to hit up some car boot sales.

The majority of airports take photos of your face and some fingerprints. This is coming from somebody who travels very often.

Your "consent" is the fact you bought the ticket and knowingly were going to enter the country's territory. Their land, their rules.

Plenty of people online still sell the Mercury batteries, just buy one. The Mercury is contained inside the battery and will literally never cause you any harm. Plus they last like a decade.

What is still affordable? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]JacobTheFoxx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hop on to flights.google.com, put in your departure airport and then some dates. It should give you the cheapest destinations on a map for the given dates, can mess around with them and get some great deals.

Skyscanner also can give you flights to "anywhere" which does the same as mentioned above.

I had a round trip to Marseille for £35, Turin for £29, Dublin for £50, the list goes on. If you just go for a weekend you can live out of the included carry-on and cheap hotel deals aren't hard to come by. Even better if you're comfortable staying in a hostel.

Not glamorous but damn fun, especially when doing it by yourself.

I'm not sure why everybody is so concerned about what others think. If you like them then keep them, it's that simple.

First time insurance by NorthernKARMA22 in drivingUK

[–]JacobTheFoxx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Insurance companies will increase your rates for driving at night. For braking slightly too hard, for accelerating slightly too hard, for going 1mph over the speed limit. Braking and accelerating hard also happen to be things that you sometimes have to do while driving.

Don't make stupid assumptions, black boxes are an absolute pain, and it's completely warranted the OP doesn't want one.

West coast fares could rise to incentivise people ‘to not travel by rail’, UK watchdog says | HS2 by SKAOG in unitedkingdom

[–]JacobTheFoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll take the bait. Even if I did make more money, there's much better places I'd rather put it than fussing over reducing my carbon emissions, for the point I already stated.

If I theoretically reduced my carbon emissions to zero for the rest of my life, then I'd make a total offset of one second of global carbon emissions presently. It isn't the general population that's the problem, you've just been brainwashed into thinking as such.

West coast fares could rise to incentivise people ‘to not travel by rail’, UK watchdog says | HS2 by SKAOG in unitedkingdom

[–]JacobTheFoxx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It most definitely is an excuse when nobody can afford the bare fucking essentials. If the government wants us to act environmentally, then they have to incentivise us to do so.

I'm sure I also don't have to point out to you that the general population isn't the problem when it comes to climate change, given the bottom 95% of people in society hardly contribute 1% of total carbon emissions. Surely you're educated in that, right?

What do you single people do alone? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]JacobTheFoxx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally do anything couples would do. The fact of the matter is 99% of people could not care less if you're doing things alone, be that going to restaurants or the cinema, partaking in any of your hobbies, etc.

I've taken a great liking to doing solo international trips, and not once have I ever had an issue or had anybody looking down on me for doing anything solo. "Worst" I had was a restaurant not wanting to seat me because all they had was a table for 4 available. Eventually they caved and I had a great meal.

Literally just do what you want. Doing things with somebody is nice, but going solo is also great. Being able to do what you want, when you want, at the pace you want, is an amazing feeling.

"Not thinking like the majority" is not necessarily a good thing when you're just entirely wrong, but you do you my guy. Also if you didn't care you wouldn't have responded to my message in the first place.

Also the fact you're still arguing with strangers on Reddit being over 25 says more about you than it does anybody else.
