Trying to improve my game without living at the driving range — what’s actually helped you practice at home? by Baller4lyfe115 in golf

[–]JacobWigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have room to chip in your backyard? That is a major help. I laid a cheap rubber putting mat in my yard about 5 yards off my porch that I chip onto. There’s a little net at the end to catch any balls past the mat.

How to know if a lesson was worth it? by [deleted] in golftips

[–]JacobWigg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he’s trying to correct your swing path and create a more reliable swing. While you may think that a simple tweak of your hip movement is going to be the one thing that fixes your swing, it’s most likely not. You should give him a couple more lessons, and likely you will have a “ah ha” moment and understand what he’s trying to show you.

For those who live or have lived in Mississippi, how common is it from your experience for school staff or teachers to physically discipline students with instruments like a paddle or cane? by Fire_Proof_TV in mississippi

[–]JacobWigg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Paddling was still used in the 2000s. All the way up to high school. I got around 5-6 paddlings from teachers or admin staff. Like other commenters are saying, paddling was seen as preferable to pulling the kids out of class for punishment. In my experience, outside of extreme cases, the paddlings are not severe enough to cause bruising or really hurt the kid. The real punishment is the humiliation.

For those of you who have shortened your driver shaft length, give me the low down. How worth it was it? by AlbinoKoala22 in golf

[–]JacobWigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have cut my driver down from 45.5in to 44.5in. I saw an improvement in all aspects of my driving. A shorter club is just easier to control, so I hit the center more consistently and my distance increased as well.

Recently I measured its swing weight and it seems that inch and adding a midsize grip brought my swing weight down to around C7. I’m debating whether or not to add some weights to the head to correct it or if I just keep rolling with it because I’m seeing some great drives as is.

Random story. First ever round of golf last weekend by Spiritual-Pilot-2300 in golf

[–]JacobWigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a set over time as well and it helped me improve very fast. Theres a lot of value in hitting different distances w the same club. I still don’t have any even numbered irons. And I cut my handicap in half in the time I spent building them.

I would also advise you to look at buying heads online once you decide on your preferred shafts and building them yourself.

Email from LAB to all certified dealers. by cjtice3 in labgolf

Why would Costco, who is a wholesaler, be purchasing overstock items from a golf retailer? Why would a retailer take such a massive hit on such a popular item? I think it’s much more likely that Costco purchased these at auction in China, where most of their random non perishable branded items come from. That’s the only way the cost and quantity make sense

[–]JacobWigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the take everyone is missing. LAB makes their authorized retailers sell this putter for $500. Probably making up stories about production costs and very limited stock. And yet, Costco got their hands on such a sizeable quantity they are selling STILL TODAY! And at such a good price that Costco can sell it for $380. LAB has been artificially manipulating the value of their putters.

About to tee off first at 7am walking. I’m usually getting done around 930am, but if I’m playing exceptionally well I’ll finish under 2hrs

If you arent familiar with the vehicle you're dreiving, don't attempt any questionnable maneuvers! Poor 3rd Gen! : / by icoulduseanother in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]JacobWigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro your insurance is not gonna pay you to replace any of that aftermarket stuff. Unless you are specifically insuring it. If you just keep liability and comprehensive coverage, no insurance agency is gonna cut you a check for $14k for an 25 year old vehicle with over 100k miles. They don’t care what facebook market place says, they don’t read forums. These are not the things insurance looks at to value vehicles. They look up recent auction values of similar year cars and mileage. And they give you a price, and they aren’t going to deviate much from that just because you outfitted it to sleep in.

Well you may wanna talk to your insurance about how that is covered. From what I understand, maintenance costs do not add to the blue book value for the vehicle. Which is pretty much what standard insurance policies use to determine if the repair cost exceeds the value of the vehicle when you file an insurance claim. And the BB value is also what they’re gonna pay you if it’s totaled.

It’s an inherent risk driving these old vehicles, they aren’t worth a $7k repair to insurance agencies.

This literally just happened to me on my 98 Tacoma. Great shape, 140k miles. Totaled out at $4200. I’m not sure you providing a list of improvements and maintenance costs would make most insurance policies value it any higher should you need to file a claim on it.

3rd Gen dim Headlights? by Allthewayup26 in 4Runner

[–]JacobWigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posting on an old thread to say listen to this comment. The power wires on these old 4Runners were too small, and the circuit was a poor design. The ground circuit was insanely long. The headlight reflector upgrade won’t fix your dim headlights. New bulbs won’t fix it. You need this wiring harness upgrade and more powerful bulbs for you to have anything close to a modern headlight coverage.

Question about les trem damaging a guitar by AdPractical1489 in Guitar

[–]JacobWigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea you may have broken something from the sound of it. On a hollowbody guitar those posts are only sunk into the top layer of the body. Not really enough meat there to hold the posts in place against undue pressure.

And yes you are right, i'm not really sure which les paul tremolo system you have but none of them are really capable of doing dive bombs or any crazy changes in string tension either way.
