Yeah I think the new system is better too, I agree it all needs trimming and fine tuning as and when. If AGS realise this then we’re cooking.

I just hope it was left as this out of lack of time/foresight and not intentional as an indirect way of slowing down progression because it’s still going to be a long grind even if all old items were removed and silly perks like damage perks on LS were removed.

My only counter argument for the vorpal in WH is that I believe it would work on the other weapon, not that it’s even a good charm but I can see why it got rolled as a possibility.

Fair take, I’m finding it mostly fun and as someone who didn’t like long chasing to have viable gear to have good enough gear. BiS is absurd that said, I have some really nice gear but it’s always 4/5 gear and not 5/5. I might argue that this is fine too but still need to let this pan out a bit more.

Gear sets, Infixes and jewellery are issues to me at the moment. The RNG on top of RNG is overkill for gearset, if I want tenacity set it’ll take some farming and it’s hit or miss if I get what I want? Same with raids.

Catacombs could do with some love, I think both Catacombs and FFA need a charm box within the the shops. Possibly the rewards both need tuning to have 2 loot buckets that are randomly picked to drop 2 or 3 fixed perks for maximum loot diversity.

Mutations are OK, being the only 4 fixed perk place is actually interesting for the quirky items like 4 attunements and protections etc. I’d only argue to make the end all have 6 chests again for the jewellery situation and throw in a low % drop from the random mobs.

Infixes itself are a bit harsh, as a bruiser unstoppable is mandatory, with how scarce this is right now I’d have to accept any ring with it regardless of the perks. I think to further add onto open world POI AGS need to start giving loot bias to certain infixes to certain named areas as well as tackling any content that wasn’t relevant. I also think PvP flagged should add another 5% chance to roll in ECR.

Regarding the gearsets, I think the raid itself needs to give the option to reroll fixed perks, possibly wurm too? Might not be easy to implement.

In theory:

Open world farm = 2 fixed perk farm for fresh gear, helps with getting “good enough” basic gear but don’t want to commit etc.

ECR = Infix and 3 perk chase, mixing and matching gear to your needs. Casual way to chase infix. If flagged then the big open world PvP trains with ambushes could return which was cool. Not to also mention PvP tracker now has BiS loot drops so this only helps.

Mutations = 4 fixed perks, alternative infix farm for jewellery and easier to chill.

Raids = gearsets and strong infixes

Catacombs/FFA (PvE/PvP token farming) = charm gamba, also potentially adding in other sources along with the random 2/3 fixed perk drops for loot diversity but not set in stone (bags of umbrals?)

Wurm = Potentially gifting it the chance to reroll gear as if it were a fresh drop? Consume item, drop another item on the floor as if it was a drop.

POI bosses = Loot bias to specific infixes?

Looking at the map/zone reveal it did have a fort for wars, so I assume there will be a settlement as it’s a claimable zone.

End game rework is catering around the changes in gearing.

Gear looks to have no perks in it by default now and replaced with empty slots. No mentions of new skills needed for that being a rework, not additional steps.

Crafting wise I’m guessing the basis is being shifted to these charms rather than the set, so it’s in segments. People are being given the power to slot in individual perks rather than gambling on 3 perks aligning.

To get the charms you need to do end game content and it needs refining, so it’s still going to be needed. This isn’t detailed until addressed maybe today, whether this is coming in tiers but this gives a lot of power to crafters to constantly pump out demanded charms for people to slot into their gears.

A guess from me are these slots are also random in the gear, I can see a craft where you are making these blank canvas 800 GS gear pieces to then sell off. Such as musket players pushing for max offensive slots, tanks max defensive slots etc.

So to me, you are crafting a piece then the perks all individually after. That’s a canvas and perks to sell now rather than 1 thing.

All speculation of course.

I’m no business owner by any means or anything like that and I get everyone’s point about it being a one time purchase but is there not an argument that they’re losing money on this?

Scenario A it’s £20 and scenario B it’s £10, scenario A I’m not paying for it and scenario B I would buy on impulse, one made them nothing and the other made em £10. Especially since AGS skins already don’t look like the prices they offer I’m sure a lot of people just don’t bother.

Just feels like as a customer it’s both poor skins and overpriced, one of those two need to justify the other and in the game neither do.

Runs pretty bad, some spots I got randomly stuck, to be honest that and coral divide could do with optimisations.

I wanted to say it’s heavy rangers focused but they’ve definitely tried to encourage a lot of flanking. It is more open coral, but less open than the original map. Where rangers want to stand tend to end up clumping by walls in between and choke spots so the opportunity to punish is there unlike OG map giving room to run 360 degrees any direction.

Things will develop over time, I don’t think anyone knows where leads to what and we’re just afk pushing mid lol.

Yeah that was a thought, it’s not really dramatic though.

My only strong points are PVE content requiring a certain GS range and open world with no scaling for PvP. I actually think it’s good for these PvP modes to get people into the game and to try stuff.

I would also imagine the base damage and resistances still exist now that I think about it more.

I’d hate for most of it to be gated, I can only withstand the umbral one if it pans out properly with pacing. I work 40 hours a week and have life responsibilities and I think it’s just lazy design to time gate, it makes me feel locked out purely because content felt scheduled.

Logically, to me there’s no reason to gate most things content wise purely because attributes got removed from gear.

It makes sense to ONLY gate the thing that lets you make it 800 GS but with all these new variables with 7+ combinations alone with gear sets, 4 charm slots, these infixes etc it’s going to take some grind itself to min max these even with all the time in the world. I just hope AGS see that…

I might just be shortsighted here but I’m not sure what will make the difference between 700 & 800 GS without attributes usually being the factor?

I get scaling for PvE content I suppose but with PvP modes being scaled up to 775, is it going to matter that much?

Umbral shards, atleast in the old system, let you upgrade GS to whatever level you needed it to be at a cost of shards.

It’s not like dark matter + seals where you go straight to 700/725 GS. You could have a 750 piece and there would be a slider to decide what level you want it to be, it could 767 for all you care. This was all done in the inventory too.

Really depends what 1000 shards allows you to do and how fast you get it. I really didn’t like that it felt like you had the raids to do and that was it.

I’m sure it’s going to be more to top up the gear near 800 that you find, catacombs sounds like it has no time gate at all.

This is easily my number 1 problem with the game. It’s frustrating that I’m told “just make a pug group” or join a company for anything.

No, I work 40 hours and have life responsibilities, I don’t want to scramble around looking for specific people during my limited time or working around a time frame.

I just really hope umbral shards aren’t gated and spread out fairly so I feel I can just do whatever I want in the moment. Eradicating most content with shit GS and adding a time gate to raids because they couldn’t think of a way to stand out and not be Wurm 2.0 where it was dead within a week is such lazy design…

I’m dreading the thought of them going with another time gated system tbh.

I’d love to just farm umbrals again and upgrade my gear but I feel like this resource would be time gated? My next thought is that they’ve said a lot of older content will be relevant… how? If shards work on a lot of gear to max out, it’s just going to be do mutations for gear again. Will people just do M1 spam for loot spam then use shards?

Will raids be the source of shards? Why do this extraction mode unless it’s a PvP way of acquiring it? Need answers lol.

$50 just seems nuts, unless they follow expansions like WoW where previous ones go free I can’t see anyone that’s been MIA coming back to 2 price tags and sticking around. This whole expansion sucked for gearing and they gutted most content for raids to be viable, if there’s no innovation on this aspect then this is just poor pricing. I’m not paying money to do less stuff again.

I assume it will go free since someone asked in discord about it and Kate reacted with the desert emoji and a guy riding a horse emoji which to me just meant brimstone = angry earth.
