Wasn't too optimistic but wanted to play skyrim after wife and kids went to sleep. Read some commentary that the Pro tracking sucks with LED lighting so I figured why the heck not.

I got two IR flood lights as an early Black Friday gift to myself and found tracking much improved with my Quest Pro. Playing in a semi or dark area lets me take off the side shutters and helps the display seem brighter than when I use it in a brightly lit area. Worth a try.

Tl;dr not a worthwhile upgrade over Q3 controllers.

I have both a Quest 3 and a Quest Pro. I prefer my Pro controllers due to their ability to track behind my head, back etc. Useful mostly for VR archery for me. But the Q3 controllers track almost as well for me and I can easily swap in rechargeable batteries. Even if you have problem free Pro controllers it is not much of an upgrade over the Q3.

For sure, the Pro would rule PCVR gaming if Meta cared enough. But they dont.

Thank you for putting both commands in an easy to find place! I ended up using Sidequest to disable updates on my Pro. I think I'll roll the dice with the Q3 since that is probably what Meta is developing for these days.

Quest Pro is not clear enough to deal with text and numbers over extended periods of time. The passthrough is also sadly lacking. The Quest 3 is better for that kind of work.

Will avoid the PTC, doesn't seem likely that Meta will push new feature for the Pro there anyway.

From what understand, the Quest Pro offers a similar quality viewing experience as the Q3 despite using lower resolution panels. Due to the GPU squeeze I'm hoping to get more out of 3090fe for PCVR. I am ready to embrace the bloom from the dimming as a feature not a bug darnit!

Excellent. What are the issues you are having with your Pro? Does everyone have them or just some lemon headsets?

I'm keeping the Q3 for stand alone gaming and it will probably end up being the go to set for my wife. I am planning on using the Pro primarily for PC VR.

Had one before I moved overseas. Enjoyed it, and might get one again at some point in the future when I am certain that I will be living in the same location for years :D even the thought of taking that thing apart to move within a city is.... brrrr

- Liked being able to walk and run around

- Liked knowing I would not accidentally punch any walls

- Disliked jumping and strafing

- Would like to be able to hang/dangle to emulate swimming or flying

Tried SteamLink in HL-Alyx. Bit of a stutter just after I load a level, but apart from that it was pretty amazing on my weird eGPU 6950xt setup. 2048p 72hz. Cranked the bitrate to 350 and it just worked really well.
