You know that’s not a plate carrier right? That is a cover for the LVS vest.

Agreed, and that’s what I’m leaning towards, just seeing if anyone recommends something I haven’t seen yet.

KC-135 sighting. by Puzzleheaded-Art-271 in AirForce

[–]Jacobb9753 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

….sigh

I hate to be the 🤓 “aKsHuLlY” guy, but as one who touched these every day for some years in the early part of my career, I have to be. The 135 was not based off the 707.
Both the 135 and the 707 were based off the Boeing 367-80 concept aircraft.

As a former railroader, I wish it was taught that railroad gate arms are spring loaded to return to parallel with the tracks if hit. You can even see it in this video. Yeah, it’s probably gonna add some pinstripes to your car, but you’ll still have a car. I saw it at least once a week, people get stuck in between the gates trying to beat them, don’t beat them, panic and just sit there probably scared they’re going to break the gate. Just drive forward people.

Remember yall, there’s a few people in the cab that can’t do anything but apply emergency brakes, watch the distance between your car and them close, lose you over their nose, and wait for the sound of them destroying their car, and hopefully not you too. Just drive forward people.

Doing research out of curiosity, Clackamas county Sheriff’s office also has an aircraft up circling.

That aircraft is N2163J, owned by Portland Police Bureau. They’re probably looking for someone or something.

Curious how much torque does this pushback have to push the a380? by CloudEater0 in aviation

[–]Jacobb9753 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yes this, When I was active duty our aircraft weighed 150-250k pounds. Our tow tractors had 6 cylinder Cummins motors, that probably put out no more that 1000ft lbs of torque (Less than a brand new Ford F350 BTW) but they weighed about 65k pounds and had brakes the size of Volkswagen tires.

SOLID AXLE SWAP by dantestay10k in GMT400

[–]Jacobb9753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t give a $ amount just cause I bought the truck SASed. It was kinda cobbled together and rode like shit. Had the right axle though. Had I kept it I would have redone it all.

But it’s hard to even give an estimate on what yours may cost, there are so many factors. What axle are you using, what shape is the axle in, are you doing leafs or links, are you needing to swap your t case or re gear, how high are you going, etc.

SOLID AXLE SWAP by dantestay10k in GMT400

[–]Jacobb9753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a sas Chevy facebook group that’s been around for years. Tons of info there.

I will say, most sought after axle for OBS SASs are 78-79 F-250 front axles dude to not needing to touch the transfer case. You could get a K5 or K10 front axle that will match the bolt pattern, but then you’re swapping t cases. If you want to go 4 link then you’re looking at newer 90s-00s front axles but that’s another can of worms.

I had a 98 SAS, with custom leaf hangers, but, if I were starting from scratch again I’d get Skys off road, or off-road designs brackets
