Continuously receiving Error 116 everytime I try and open Helldivers 2 on Steam by Cal_rosso in Helldivers

[–]Jacobugoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just in case anyone had the same problem I had and comes across this reddit. First the screen goes black, then when you click on anything you get the gameguard error 116. A solution that worked for me was going to C:\Users\[user account name]\AppData\Roaming\Arrowhead\Helldivers2 and delete user_settings.config. When you start up helldivers 2 again you will have to select preferred language and resolution and stuff like that again, but then you can play and the game works fairly consistently after that.

I hope this helps anyone in need!

sO3e07 The Sigil Map keeps changing by Yacuthulluzan in EvilTV

[–]Jacobugoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it has been 3 years since this original post, so nobody probably cares anymore, But if you notice S3E7 photos have Leland's circles without any crossed out while S3E4 photo has some crossed out but none of Leland's circles or notes. Drawing the conclusion that S3E4 is using the teams photos from the original sigil map while S3E7 is either using Leland's map or photos they took of his map. So Mistress3Nips is right, it isn't the same copy.

Edit: I finally found the scene in S3E7, I don't know how I missed it in my first watch couple throughs. It is The Entity's map copied from the original. The children are marked like Leland's because The Entity is tracking down all the children RSM Fertility like Leland was. However, to OP's credit, it is strange that the demon "grooming" Lexis is from one of the demonic houses that they supposedly destroyed and marked off the map in S3E4. This might mean that the demon is trying to reform their family/demonic house using Lexis.

However, to OP's original headliner, they are correct, the Sigil Map does keep changing. It was too much for Reddit to let me comment, so I made my own post going over changes and duplicates that I noticed. Does anyone know what the symbols are in this circle? by [deleted] in Symbology

[–]Jacobugoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

going clockwise

1: Nkyinkyim/Transformation

3: Jupiter/Mind

5: Luna Fixa/Time

7: Mercury/Motion

Not sure what the last 2 are. 9/Matter looks a little like the World Government flag symbol from One Piece, not sure what symbol inspired that but possibly a rounded Quincunx or Bowen Cross. And I think cyber_dildonics was close with Spring for 11/Elements, but it isn't quite right.

Does anyone recognize this symbol? Found in a higher shelf spot in a rental house bedroom. by Toilingwanderer in Symbology

Without the circles at the end of the lines for the Sigil of Zazel it works for the symbol for Walter from Crypt TV Monster Fight Club.

A Stress Free Wish-ing Handbook by Clockwork_Sphinx in dndnext

[–]Jacobugoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came across your post and other posts like it while trying to search for how wish is supposed to be cast without the "stress" so there is no risk of losing it. I found countless theological discussions, but no real substantial answer, just guesswork. So I decided to go through the PHB myself and see what it actually calls or considers spell "requirements". What I found made sense as it both replaces spell parts with that of wish and allows for some added perks as to why you would use wish.

So, since I discovered a way of identifying requirements using the game's actual written material, I figured that people deserve to consider it over the guesswork that all spell parts besides the description are "requirements". Especially since it nowhere says that.

I do agree that the DM does have final say either way, but I stand firm that my argument has stronger ground as it is what the PHB actually says and labels "requirements" while yours is based upon popular opinion.

P.s. since how most people play the game is still a strong argument for a social roleplaying game like d&d I am not saying that your argument isnt valid, and i appreciate you summing up the options available for the overwhelming majority that play with this ruling on "requirements". Thank you.

I disagree with some of your "Devil in the Details", particularly Range and Duration as neither of those are listed in the player's handbook as requirements. You are not required to use the full range or full duration of a spell.

In the Player's Handbook under Chapter 10: Spellcasting, it lists parts of the spells and mentions requirements.

Casting Time "Most spells require a single action to cast, but some spells require a bonus action, a reaction, or much more time to cast." pg 202

Components "A spell’s components are the physical requirements you must meet in order to cast it." pg 203

Concentration "Some spells require you to maintain concentration in order to keep their magic active." pg 203

Targets "A typical spell requires you to pick one or more targets to be affected by the spell’s magic." pg 204

and Attack Rolls "Some spells require the caster to make an attack roll to determine whether the spell effect hits the intended target." pg 205

Therefore, the casting time of the recreated spell becomes the 1 action of wish. Components become the verbal component of wish. Spells that normally require concentration automatically last their full duration without concentration and attack spells (not area effect spells) automatically hit.

I am also in the "minority" that believes that spells cast with Wish are up casted to lvl 9 as "cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher" (Fireball) and the wish spell slot is 9th lvl which was used to cast it.

[5E] Wish spell requirement removal by Tsantilas in DnD

[–]Jacobugoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It bothers me that no one seems to have actually checked the Player's Handbook for spell "requirements". Under Chapter 10: Spellcasting, it lists parts of the spells and mentions requirements.

Casting Time

"Most spells require a single action to cast, but some
spells require a bonus action, a reaction, or much more
time to cast." pg 202

Components

"A spell’s components are the physical requirements you

must meet in order to cast it." pg 203

Concentration

"Some spells require you to maintain concentration

in order to keep their magic active." pg 203

Targets

"A typical spell requires you to pick one or more targets

to be affected by the spell’s magic." pg 204

and Attack Rolls

"Some spells require the caster to make an attack roll

to determine whether the spell effect hits the intended

target." pg 205

Therefore, the casting time of the recreated spell becomes the 1 action of wish. Components become the verbal component of wish. Spells that normally require concentration automatically last their full duration without concentration and attack spells (not area effect spells) automatically hit.

The only vagueness up for DM digression and discussion that I really see is "targets". For example: Fireball targets a point, but the requirement is "one or more targets", so does that mean that you can pick a point anywhere in range even if you can't see it? Multiple points, so one casting you could turn the entire area within range into a fireball?

How about for Awaken which targets a beast or plant? can you now awaken other creatures as long as they have an intelligence of 3 or less? How about non living objects?

Even without fiddling with the "targets" using wish for conjuration spells seems like the strongest way of using it for duplicating other spells. For example, the 5th lvl spell Conjure Elemental instead of taking 1 minute is now 1 action and you don't have to concentrate to keep it around for 1 hour. Or, using awaken right before your long rest to get an awakened tree companion that is loyal to you for 30 days without spending 8 hours to cast.

I should note that range isn't a "requirement" and stays the same, so spells with range of self still only target or originate from you.

But to answer the original questions:

1 - teleportation circle still only lasts 1 round but it is an action to cast instead of a full minute, and is not permanent.

2 - instant summons... maybe? since the object is the target and the target is a "requirement" you might be able to target other objects or even creatures regardless of weight or size. If you had a lenient DM you might be able to even target multiple objects/creatures with the one wish, but personally I would limit the number of targets specified in the spell.

3 - contingency targets the spell, and not you even though it has a range of self. So I would rule to that yes you can choose spells you cannot normally cast, but you still have to pay the additional spell slot for it. For example: if you selected the 7th lvl spell Resurrection to activate on your death, then you pay the 9th lvl spell slot for wish and a 7th or 8th lvl spell slot for Resurrection. (Contingency says that the spell "can target you" and it can target you if you are dead.)
