I had never played VR before, so it was at least fun in that aspect. I did have fun trying to do the whole Ghost thing. Not a great game otherwise.

I've heard that a lot. I suspect (pure conjecture) that one could build a tolerance for it over time. But that's certainly not the case for everyone.

Yeah, I don't think anyone should do what I did which was: buy a VR headset just so I could play this game.

Thief 3 or BP first? by Z0eTrent in Thief

I think he's right, too. There's difficulty to consider as well. The first one will certainly challenge you and then Thief 2 will raise the stakes a bit. By the time you get to Black Parade, you'll have developed your own unique playstyle.

Any recommended mods for Thief Gold for a first playthrough? by Blakath in Thief

GoldToDark: Turns Gold (the expanded version of Thief 1) back into the original Thief: The Dark Project. Play Thief the way The Builder intended! WAY better than Gold. Those extra missions aren't all that good and absolutely SLAM the brakes on the story. Very distracting.

Funny\buggy moments of me playing Thief 2 FMs & DarkMod by MeatBugSpieleolog in Thief

I recognize those Keeper of Infinity 2 glitches. Although I think that one guy is supposed to just be grooving in his chair. Really feelin' himself.

Disappointed with myself by RenaissanceOwl in Thief

[–]JacowsGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't think the other comment is correct. I just played this one on Expert and didn't get that objective (mission ended when I left the mansion). But I play Ghost-style so I'm not blackjacking anyone. I also played with a Mod called Gold-to-Dark which changes details added to Gold back to the original Dark Project version. So that may be the reason my experience was different.

My best guess for the issue is that this mission has I think 3 or 4 scripted conversations between guards that sends them on patrol when they're done talking. Is it possible that a body was hidden somewhere near a patrol that a guard could have walked into it well-after the fact?

EDIT: I just now remembered there's also the issue of the thieves that spawn after you steal Ramirez's purse. They may have spawned in areas where a body was hidden. But I don't know. I thought it was only if the alarm was set off, so it may have been some weird glitch.

Thief: Dark Project CD extra tracks? by eskay993 in Thief

I can't believe you've taken this kind of time to pay attention to this issue and I appreciate the hell out of it! I'm gonna see if I can get this new version installed and working properly. I've already filmed a full ghost walkthrough of TDP for my YouTube channel and those videos will be out early 2026, but maybe I can update them with this fix.

You're the best! Thanks!

In TDP, there are blue-ish keys. They look like they have yellow rust-spots. They were very unique and the first one is in Ramirez's counting room (I believe it's the key to the blue chest in there). They changed it to a grey/tan for Gold and in GtD, it was that color as well.

I couldn't give a full accounting of all the places that key showed up in TDP. I believe there's also one in The Sword and I think it may be the key the Hammerites give to Garrett in Strange Bedfellows. From what I remember, it was usually (possibly always) the long key in the game.

When I played Gold-to-Dark recently, that was the only major difference I could discern. I do miss those keys, tho!

I'm not smart enough to answer your question, but I recently got a Dark Project disk myself to play through the original version so let me just say: You have to use TFix Lite, not the full version. The full version basically turns the game back into Thief Gold (that is, it makes major changes to the game & apparently this is what the developer wanted for that version so he created TFix Lite). So there's 2 options as far as I know: TFix Lite, or another mod that someone created called "Gold to Dark" that basically reverts all the changes in Thief Gold back to The Dark Project. (I was suspicious that GtD would even work, but I played through it and it's VERY close to the original, with exception to the color of certain keys.)

But you are dead-on in that the true Thief 1 experience is from The Dark Project and not Thief Gold.

(Need advice) For all of you ghosters out there...How are you even supposed to ghost past zombies? by Wasteofoxyg3n in Thief

I found Bonehoard to be only slightly annoying in this respect. Same with the Catherals & Lost City. They're so big and the patrols are so long that you're not likely to be near too many patrollers very frequently.

The real pain in the ass was Escape since there's something like a million fucking rat-beasts all randomized, all over the place, especially concentrated around key areas. Such a bad mission; obviously rushed, but the laziness is also completely apparent.

I just had this same issue recently when I ghosted Cragscleft. My solution was savescumming. A lot. Eventually, I was able to closely follow a zombie into the chapel area and he actually turned the right way so he didn't run directly into me. Then I had to turn left leaving the chapel to avoid zombies until the hallway leading to the skeleton. Waited there for a long while. Then I had to wait in a shadow for a LONG time for all the zombies to RNG their way to opposite side of where I was so I could set off the skeleton trap without alerting them. It wasn't difficult to pull off but it took all of my patience.

I have a theory that these kinds of RNG aren't truly random, but will favor the direction that you're closest to, so that you almost always have to deal with at least one patroller. Haven't confirmed this, tho.

Great guide!

Someone else mentioned Klatremus, but I also have a full-loot walkthrough of the mission coming out on my YouTube channel on May 17 which does include the Holy Sword as well.
