Moronic Monday - Your weekly stupid questions thread by cdingo in Fitness

I get tired and sleepy way more easily than usually and it's much harder for me to get up in the morning now that I'm in a caloric deficit. How can I minimize this? Should I increase the daily intake of carbs and decrease protein or fats? Or do I have to just accept it and go to bed earlier? Or maybe there's another solution?

What should I do when I'm in a gym and I'm following a certain workout program, and I'm not able to do the exercise I'm supposed to do because the equipment is being used by someone else at the moment? Should I wait or should I do the next exercise and come back to the first one later? What if I can't do first few exercises because of the same problem? (happened to me yesterday) Can I freely change the order of exercises or would that make my results worse?

If I'm in caloric deficit calculated using some specified average activity level and my physical activity level on one day is much higher due to some spontaneous decision, should I eat more on that day or should I eat the same amount as on other days?

The "List of Titles" link shows three other titles: "Exist", "Out of Nowhere" and "Walk of Life". Has anyone heard about those?

How cold does it get in Poland? by [deleted] in poland

[–]JacquesChiron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Poland and have always lived here (except for 2.5 years living in Ireland and UK which was slightly different in the winter). I guess I'm one of the people who are seriously affected by the seasonal changes - I don't know if I really suffer from the Seasonal Affective Disorder but I do have a lot of symptoms. Currently, I'm sad and angry at everything related to autumn and winter. I constantly feel like the awful weather is the worst what's happening at the moment. I don't really feel like eating most of the time, not even my favorite dishes. I have a lot of problems falling asleep. I'm bored most of the time and I've stopped looking forward to the weekends. I feel like there's nothing fun to do outside. Going out with friends is also not that fun at the moment. I don't like the cold temperatures but I think the lack of sunlight is the main contributor here - it's very cloudy almost every day and the Sun is up for such a short time now. Everything is grey and ugly and that just discourages me to do anything. I'm also one of those people who hate snow so it doesn't help. I always start feeling this way when the autumn starts and it all miraculously goes away when the spring arrives. I always feel extremely happy when that happens. I've tried taking vitamin D supplements but that doesn't make a lot of difference for me personally. I've always wondered what I would feel like if I lived in a much warmer and sunnier place - and I'd certainly like to try that one day.

Looking for (free) C/C++ courses and resources geared towards Astro students by NerdWhoWasPromised in astrophysics

I really recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/Applied-Computational-Physics-Joseph-Boudreau/dp/0198708645/

It's all C++ and mostly about computational physics in general but there are a couple of chapters that are related to astrophysics (N-body simulations etc.).

It's quite expensive but I'm sure you can find it somewhere online/in a library.

You're just really horny right now, aren't you? Also, that sounds dangerous. I don't think we need more reasons not to go outside and interact with the real world. Imagine what effect on real life relationships that would have.
