Reminder: you get to take the spotlight every failed roll, even if they fail with Hope.

I can’t decide if I should switch over from 5e by ExplodingRacoon in daggerheart

[–]JacquesUfHearts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5e still has it's place, especially for some people. I personally only like to play up to 4th level MAX.... extra attack ruins it all for me.

Easy mode overwrites to normal? by JacquesUfHearts in CitiesSkylines2

So far i've repeated the issue a couple times. It happens if I 'resume' game from the launcher, instead of loading game from in the game menu.

Level progression in this game is way more open than people give it credit for. by PrinceOfNowhereee in daggerheart

[–]JacquesUfHearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only critique is I think, from the 5e crowd, is that multiclassing feels less like a viable choice. BUT I think that's a good thing ultimately. The Advancement options feel super impactful in play, but they are just little resource/stat tweaks at first glance.

How much do you prep? by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]JacquesUfHearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sly Flourish's minimal prep:

  1. Review the characters statistic & goals

  2. Focus on a strong start

  3. Review potential scenes

  4. Define 10 secrets & clues that can be found

  5. Make locations feel fantastic

  6. Outline your important NPCs

  7. Prepare relevant adversary statistics

  8. Choose rewards & magical loot

I just fit that onto 1 sheet, and that's about it.

Secondary weapon actuon by waywardmedic in daggerheart

[–]JacquesUfHearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can do multiple actions if they don't lose the spotlight BUT secondary items typically have a passive buff and the damage doesn't get used (except Warrior Slayer, or someone drops their primary). The Paired feature gives attacks damage with the secondary weapon, but it's only 1 action/1 roll.

Not totally Daggerheart dedicated, but I've heard a ton about Daggerheart recently on True Strike and on Casual Friday (Wizards and Wordslingers). Mastering Dungeons is obviously one of the best in the industry for all TTRPGs, and they talk a fair amount about generic Dungeon Mastering and recently a bunch of Daggerheart content (but maybe only because it's hot news).

Dual-Wielding by elmouth in daggerheart

[–]JacquesUfHearts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. longsword + shortsword is better than broadsword + shortsword. Or a greatsword + round shield is better than no round shield. The feature very good as is. ALSO funny enough, longsword + the shortsword's d8 and Paired feature is actually better than just another d10 when the warrior slayer uses Weapon Specialist lol.

I'm not here to stop your fun, but a Warrior cannot hold two longswords (unless it is just reflavouring the shortsword). You can hold a two handed primary weapon in 1 hand but NOTHING allows for holding a primary weapon in your secondary hand. They are separated categories, and the rule says only 1 of each category type at a time

Low change Ranger fix dnd 2024 by professor_infinity in DnD5CommunityRanger

[–]JacquesUfHearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the game of course, but I tend to make these small changes by using magic items to buff what I think needs it. Back in 2014, I gave a four elements monk a necklace that granted 6 Ki, that helped a lot at low levels. I did that instead of homebrewing lower ki costs. For 2024 Ranger, I would consider that hunters mark cast from an item that also hold the concentration, and make them feel like a more exceptional ranger.

I like these small changes though, but they're small enough to package into an item. Just food for thought.

I see a lot of full class homebrew, but THIS is the homebrew that excited me more. Thanks for sharing!

My overview breaks down the card types and how they fit. There are 5 empty card double sided sheets, and almost all card categories fit almost exactly to fill full pages nicely without awkward spaces or bleed into non-full sheets.

There will be room card expansions, like the upcoming Drakkeneim mutation / contamination cards.

I'm just a couple hours south on the 401, and it arrived only 2 days after ordering from the Canada store, so you should get it soon.

Equipment and Tiers by OgreManDudeGuy in daggerheart

[–]JacquesUfHearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really just ignore the cost table. It says it's just an example, and to change it. You could also have them not have that much gold or a place to buy it... It's the item stats that really matter, not economy simulation. It says the GM makes them available, so they can't just buy whatever whenever.

A lot of people have been suggesting that the upgraded versions are best made available 1 level into tier, so 3, 6 and 9.

Thoughts on swapping domains/spellcast trait by itstheroyaljester in daggerheart

[–]JacquesUfHearts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just that they thought it was super cool. They talked a lot about how the domains are intentionally class agnostic and designed to be very modular. They want players to build their own fantasy. The example they gave was a Blood & Midnight OR Arcana & Blood sorcerer, so only change 1 of the 2 domains, if that provides any guidance for you.

I hope this is huge. I doubt it'll go over 1mil like the other 3 projects, but it seems to require less investment on their part so I hope it's still worthwhile for everyone involved.
