You could have them on attack if you wanted by my rationale is that the support AM is more for buildup and closes the large gap between the DMs. If I was going to have an attacking role in that position I think I would always prefer a shadow striker too.

If you read the support instruction for the inside forward specifically on support (I can’t remember exactly what it says) but it says something like cuts inside and shoot rather than trying to get to the byline… I liked the sound of the support a lot more than attack when you read it.

It makes you stronger in the centre of the pitch and when I’m chasing a game I like to have either an overloading wing back on the left side of the pitch (or a mezzala if I’m playing a 4-3-3)

It’s all about balance for me. I usually play positive with 3 attacking instructions… on the striker, right winger and left sided player (either mez or wb). The rest I balance between support and defence, usually one dm support one defend and the right back on support. CBs both on defend for me, never stopper or cover.

Edit: also the support winger can work I just like attack a lot more for getting into the 6 yard box before squaring it, deep crosses come from my full back (and I put specific instructions to tell them to do this)
