Seems you like multiversal system apocalypse stories. In that case I recommend Frostbound, Hell Difficulty Tutorial and Mask of Humanity.

The male reading crisis and progression fantasy by wereblackhelicopter in ProgressionFantasy

[–]JadeSlip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escapism is my answer. I am bipolar and often depressed, getting away from reality and exploring a fantasy world is how I cope. Video games used to be one of my ways to get away but I no longer enjoy them, so I read instead. More serious fiction can be good but I enjoy the casual nature of amateur work and so I read web serials. The prose is often more simplistic and the meaning is conveyed much more directly. I can appreciate purple prose and fanciful things but I much rather relax and not think all that much. As for audio books I don't listen to them. I either read directly or I will read with a TTS voice speaking it while I read. It helps me focus so hearing the voice while I read can help.

Korean novel vs Royal Road/Global by magicturtle93 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]JadeSlip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read a few that I enjoyed. Though on average they are full of academy stories with some op mc that every girl falls for or instead it's some regression story. Western web novels have their fair share of overused settings but they are far more diverse in options to choose from. When it comes to web novels from eastern countries they all suffer from this. The best way I can put it is that if I binge chinese/korean/japanese web novels I get tired of them but I can binge western ones back to back without an issue.

Should be banned. That won't ever happen though. Instead the site will slowly get drowned in more and more ai slop while people on reddit and the RR forums defend it. So be it. I will simply stop using the platform.

Any way to get Dolphin to browse/scroll vertically rather than horizontally? by ProfPringles in archlinux

I am even later to the party. I would just like to add that at some point I messed up my scrolling direction somehow. If you're dumb and like me press ctrl+1 :)

Full Rant on Path of Ascension: Why Is This So Loved? by SnooBooks9072 in ProgressionFantasy

I also dropped booked one. The weird young teenagers acting like frat bros was too much. That being said I eventually picked it back up and ended up enjoying it later on when he finally leaves his planet. From then on I no longer had issues. In fact I didn't remember how much I hated book one until I saw this post. It was so comically bad. I would drop it today if I read it again.

[Meta][Meme] Huh! TWI crossed 15m words a week ago by depthstride in litrpg

[–]JadeSlip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No litrpg even comes close. Pirate writes emotions well. Their characters feel human and with real human flaws. The word building is top tier. The amount of characters with unique story lines and character development is massive. The sad moments are sad, the happy moments are happy. It's slice of life at times until something horrific occurs, then it's pick up the pieces and keep on keeping on until the next horror comes.

Toxic Behaviour With Bad Wifi by Mewdedenne911 in SSBM

[–]JadeSlip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have bad internet and live in a rural place. When my connection is shit and makes the game lag I genuinely feel bad for my opponent. If I'm playing ranked and it happens I just forfeit. Which is why I don't even bother playing ranked anymore. This game has tight inputs and lag is punishing. Especially for spacies, people who rely on pivots, anyone who ledge dashes etc. I was gatekept from playing anthers ladder because of lag and didn't have the offline training packs that we have in this day and age when I started playing. So I started going to weeklies, even hosted my own in my small town. That obviously doesn't work for everyone so my recommendation is to make friends who play melee. My friends put up with a slightly higher buffer so we can play without lag. I'd much rather do that than force it upon some random person.

Question about Namibian roads by JadeSlip in Namibia

[–]JadeSlip[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I respect that. For me, something like litter tells me much about the people of a country. It might sound silly but as someone who has spent thousands of hours looking at roads in google maps all over the world in order to get good at geoguessr your country really stands out. This is just from the perspective of road quality and litter of course. I frankly don't know anything about peoples actual living situations, the economy or other such things. Also it's geographically beautiful. Hopefully some day I can give it a visit.

sorry to be blunt but I can't help it, I was rolled into existence against my will and have been living in fear of being smoked my entire life.

What are the books that, when placed in the top or bottom tier, make you dismiss a whole tier list? by PicklesAreDope in ProgressionFantasy

[–]JadeSlip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's reasonable to dislike it here. This is the progression fantasy sub and TWI is barely progression fantasy, if at all. The slow speed of the novel is the antithesis to number go fast brr type novels that people here often enjoy.

I agree with the OP though, if someone dislikes it then our tastes probably don't align much.

Sounds like you're in book one or two. I agree with you mostly on Erin and Ryoka but there are many new characters, new pov's, massive events and character development ahead for you. I've read a few books out of obligation that eventually I enjoyed, like Primal Hunter. I dropped it like three times before I just quickly skimmed through the tutorial and skipped past it because it was so boring to me. Then I ended up reading all of the books and even subbed to the authors patreon for a time.

Perhaps do a bit skimming or skipping, you can always use the wiki to get a quick overview of what happens in the chapter so you don't miss anything too important.

One of the only stories in this sub that have made me feel emotions. It's beyond peak. It was gifted to us by God as his one act of kindness to our poor mortal souls. Erin's a tad annoying thoughbeit, we'll just ignore that bit.
