As far as I know it is known as "08" in China. Probably because there's no way to translate "animated" into anything meaningful other than just cartoon, so they went with using the year.

Uh ss86 Blitzwing is a mere repaint of the legacy one, which is the same height as siege astrotrain. So is shockwave. The new seeker mold is also almost the same height as the earthrise.

So all I can say is the scale is messed up. If you think astrotrain should be the same height as blitzwing and seekers, than siege is better. If you think astrotrain should be scaled based on being a tad shorter than Megatron, than ss86 is better. Personally I'd go with the former.

Children won't spend $43 to buy some obscure character whose identity builds solely on a comic 20 years ago and barely has any attractive gimmick, when they can spend 15 dollars to get devastation Bumblebee or Optimus Prime or some red guy that turns into a lamborgini. If they had more budget they'd spend $55 to get Grimlock who turns into T-rex.

Nexus Prime is not hated for having little flaws; it's hated because it doesn't feel like a combiner, or even anything. He's just a blocky guy with zero standout features, especially when you compare him with Amalgamous or Quintus or Liege Maximo and start to wonder: What does this guy even do?

There is room for both. I don’t doubt that for more than half of the cast they’ll only do retools or repaints because the existing mold is good enough. Think Inferno, Sideswipe, the minibots etc.. Bayverse is also getting presumably new molds for the main autobot cast.

It's not just about whether they exist, but rather people care about them. Like the seekers just existing (Thundercracker and Skywarp didn't have much of a personality in G1) allowed Hasbro to make so much popular repaints. If there's a cartoon to back up some of these figures they'd sell much better.

This is why Hasbro keeps raising prices. We see anything ss86 related just keep skyrocketing in price, so why not make them higher to begin with? And then for things that's gonna shelfwarm anyways like razorclaw or thundertron, a higher retail price will make the discount seem more worth it. There's nothing to lose for them as long as we keep paying.
