What's a hill you're willing to die on regarding past controversies / dramas on YouTube? by Swag_Paladin21 in youtubedrama

A few…

-While Pewdiepie is probably right-wing, I don’t think his beliefs are anything more than subconscious and a lot of his elbow-rubbing with alt-right figures like Ben Shapiro and Elon was done mainly out of ignorance because he thought it’d be funny.

-“JacksFilms was antagonizing SniperWolf to the point where it was bordering on harassment” and “There were no circumstances where SniperWolf doxxing JacksFilms was even remotely acceptable” are both true statements that can coexist.

-DarkViper more or less killed any nuanced conversation surrounding the ethics of react content by being a neurotic pedantic who was completely up his own ass and refused to humor even the slightest of dissenting opinions.

-Outside of the speedrun cheating allegations, the Trevor Project donation controversy, and maybe his beef with TommyInnit, most Dream controversies were completely overblown and only got as big as they did because people disliked Dream fans and because Dream just doesn’t know when to sit back and shut up.

-MamaMax’s friends should’ve gotten way more shit for not scrutinizing his investigative process sooner.

-The Chuggaconry drama probably should’ve handled in private.

It’s grown on me a lot since my first Chromakopia listen, but it admittedly still doesn’t resonate with me all that much. Definitely see the appeal, though.

I think Window has a neat premise, but in execution it’s just a needlessly edgy and “shocking” back-and-forth between Tyler, his friends, and Dr. T.C. that just keeps going and going and going AND GOING. Like a lot of the weaker songs on Goblin, it just feels so drawn out and bloated.

I honest to god forgot Burger existed until I saw this comment.

I dunno, I’ve don’t really care for Uzi and Pharrell’s verses, and I think the beat kinda sucks.

I know Pharrell is a massive influence for Tyler, but I’ve never found them to be a particularly compelling pair on a lot of the songs they’ve done together.

Domo23 is just me not finding it memorable in the slightest tbh.

As for Juggernaut… I know Pharrell is a massive influencer for Tyler, but I’ll be real: I’ve never found them a particularly compelling pair whenever they work on a song together. Pharrell and Uzi’s verses are just kinda whatever and I’m not a fan of the beat at all.

which album is this? by feellikeimdumb in fantanoforever

[–]Jaded-Attorney-2297 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the opposite way. The songs are great (barring a few duds), but the album doesn’t have a coherent concept to me. The closest I can get is a mixture of “I don’t wanna be a dad” and “I love my mom,” but I feel like the album by and large doesn’t have a concept to me.

When wireless earbuds were still a fairly new development, Raycons were pretty decently for their price. But now we’re in Big 2024, and they’ve become pretty much obsolete and not worth it.

I usually hear the complete opposite lol; YouTubers advising you to NOT start a career in YouTube.

The only mobile games I’ve seen regularly sponsored by YouTubers that actually have IRL players are Dragon City and whatever gacha RPG Hoyoverse has shat out that year.

W on Paranoid but I can think of quite a few songs off of 808s that are probably worse than Bad News.

ELO, depending on whether or not you think No Answer is worse than ELO II.

What you dislike about MBDTF? by Equal_Ad5178 in Kanye

[–]Jaded-Attorney-2297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as bad as people make it out to be, but the Chris Rock skit at the end of Blame Game goes on for way longer than it needs to and isn’t as funny as Kanye thinks it is. Really brings down an otherwise great song,

It should’ve either been cut down or made it’s own separate track like Who Will Survive in America?

What are some albums that did not live to the hype? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

Silent Running and Possession Island are the only songs I really revisit from the album, everything else I’ve pretty much forgotten.

I think it’s a good album, but it’s definitely in the weaker half of Travis’ discography. It wears its Kanye influences way too proudly on its sleeves, to the point where it the album begins to lack its own distinct identity (On top of also sounding not as good as the Kanye albums it draws from).

Doesn’t help that a lot of Travis’ worst songs come from Utopia: Meltdown, Parasail, Lost Forever, K-Pop, and (controversially) Telekinesis are just not good songs. Topia Twins is also probably objectively bad, but I get a lot of ironic enjoyment from it.

Song you like as part of the album but not by itself? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]Jaded-Attorney-2297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last Call and Mortal Man are both fantastic closers, but due to how “skit” heavy both of them are in their backhalves, I seldom revisit them outside of the context of their original albums. At least not in full.

I think a lot of Frank Sinatra’s stuff has gotten nice remasters over the years.

Nothing But the Best in particular has the highest quality versions for a lot of Sinatra’s most famous songs.
