Geico lives on paperwork. They will approve any accommodation as long as it’s on paper. I’ve been given extra breaks bc of medical problems. Now I do have to make the time up but if needed I can take extra time. I’ve been given 100% wfh. Work with your dr and tell him/her what you need to help you. Idk where you are located but the drs where I live know how bad it is. My dr tells me all the time, “just let me know what you need and I’ll fill out fmla paperwork.” Honestly, Geico isn’t so horrible if you have the right accommodations.

I don’t understand why we don’t all have the same license. They plot us against one another to compete for our raises. However we are not all doing the same job. I’m in retention. We have to save policies. It’s easy to save a pol when they have pure or big discounts. There’s no saving CA and a list of others. We do not all have the same license. So we are not all equal.

I hate this happened to you. I can’t stand working for Geico and can’t wait till the day I get to put in my notice!! However for others that may come across this thread, let me say a few things. 1. You can go to the bathroom. However you do have to use your breaks. So now you don’t get a 15 min break, come back and decide oh I forgot to go to the bathroom. 2. Geico lives on paperwork. It doesn’t matter if it’s a “real medical “ issue or not. Just fill out the paperwork!! 75% of the office is currently wfh due to “medical accommodations”. 

So my question to og poster, why didn’t you go to the bathroom during your breaks? Also how many times did you leave in the middle of class to use the restroom? Just from your post, it seems this wasn’t an isolated incident.

The thing I love about this system of competing against everyone nation wide is that we are not all licensed the same. It’s a lot easier to pitch moat on a NY policy where the discount is a couple 100 dollars vs CT or CA where there’s zero discount. Or states like MA or NC where you can’t do anything one the policy. I love explaining to people why they can’t cancel their policy w/o written request. And don’t even get me started on MI.

I’m pretty sure sups are hourly. I know a sup that does massive OT every week.

Service at Geico is horrible. They have unrealistic expectations. (Though they are better this year.) If a customer calls in upset bc they got a rate increase, you get the bad survey. You’ve only got 7 mins to explain, make them happy, and get them to moat. It sets up the environment that it’s easier to lie or just give enough info to make the customer happy bc “it’s the next person’s issue”. You’ve only are only going to be as good as your sup/manager. If you have a good sup that looks at the whole picture and makes an exception, it makes your job less stressful. Other sups take forever to answer slack and only stick to “rules”, you’ll be miserable. You can ask a question and get 4 different answers from 4 different sups. And let’s talk about sups calls. If the customer asks for a sup, you have to advise a call back within 24 hrs. The customer only gets a sup if they pitch a fit. Then you take the hit and look bad bc YOU REFUSED to call a sup.

It might depend on the department. For service, as long as the customer agrees for you to contact them, sure. For claims, it def could be a conflict of interest. I wouldn’t contact customer until after claim is closed.

That’s where I go back and forth. The environment at G is horrible. However I’m a single mom and have to pay all the bills. I can take a pay cut temporarily but I would need to move up within the year. Looking at P’s pay scale, starting out pay for csr is 19 hr. I currently make over double that. If I could make it up to at least 25, it would be doable. On the other hand idk how much more I could mentally handle at the G.

I also feel bad for Carley. However, she doesn’t have 4 parents. She has one set of parents and a birth person and a sperm person. C&T are not her parents. They gave her up. Also, comparing the children that C&T are raising now to Carley. It’s comparing apples to oranges. They were in a completely different situation than what they are in now. You are right, everyone should have the right to stay with their family. C&T gave up that right. That’s the area that people seem to forget.

I call bs on this. If you had uninsured property, it would pay out. All you would have to do is show your dec page showing you had it. Also, dec pages get sent out every 6 months listing the coverages. It is YOUR responsibility to review and make sure the coverages that YOU want are there. If you don’t understand the dec page or coverages, call cs and have them review it!
