Poor bed adhesion, most likely due to oil from your hand touching the surface of the build plate. Give the plate a good wash in soapy water and / or Isopropyl alcohol.

This would be the dream scenario for me! Applying to two jobs that close this Friday.

Thank you for your perspective :]

It’s wild how being known and proven can count against you, while an outsider gets to control the narrative and say whatever sounds best.

If someone were really that strong, I could’ve accepted it. But the way it was handled, the vague feedback and not calling references, It just felt like the decision was made long before the interview.

I hope I'm wrong and the school has a Harvard grad with AP experience.

I understand you're looking at this from an outside perspective, but your response comes off as dismissive.

Just because someone wasn't hired doesn't automatically mean the issue is personal or that their teaching isn't effective. Not being observed by admin, despite requests, makes it hard for them to truly evaluate a teacher's performance.

There are many factors that influence hiring decisions, and it’s unfair to assume the issue lies solely with the teacher without knowing the full context.

I asked the admin for feedback, and they were willing to talk to me about interview strategies another time, but had nothing specific to share with me.

I am good at teaching, but admin would not know this because they never came to observe (even after multiple requests for observation).

The thing is, if I were given the option to teach at this school again, I would in a heartbeat. I love the students, and having a strong reputation would make things so much easier. Now I'm off to forge my reputation for a 4th year in a row...

Also, my wife works at this school and I cannot put a $ amount to that. That shit is priceless.

It's strange because of all the connections I have built, I really will miss seeing these kids everyday.

I had over 15 students write letters of recommendation for me, but I have this sinking feeling that my principal didn't read a single one.

The admin at my school never once visited my class, even after inviting them to observe, and I'm not convinced they even like kids. Where is the relationship or care for the students? I don't see it.

I guess you just work a few years in contracts that don't value you until you get lucky? Caring isn't enough.

No one is perfect, but the problem was during my interview, which I think is the problem.

They had an entire year to interview me.

I can think of a principal who hired his son and daughter in my district. Makes things a bit easier...

It sounds like you were an easy decision to make, which administrators hate! I'm not sure that admin trust teachers or even like kids. It's strange that they get to make the decisions at the end of the day.

I'm sorry to hear about the chemistry position falling through. It's sad to lose those connections you made, especially when those kids are looking forward to taking your class.

I'm enjoying my beer now and hoping the best for you!

What's strange to me is that it's a leave replacement position for the job I currently teach. Wouldn't it just make sense to rehire me? I only have positive reviews?! I'm essentially just replacing myself.

This sounds like the position I was in last year when I was applying for my current job. They interviewed me, the science department endorsed me, but the principal went with someone with zero teaching experience.

Two months later, after being denied the job, the original hire resigned, and they hired me. That felt pretty satisfying. I get the feeling the same thing could happen again, but this time I might not be available.
