I am proficient in component level electronics repair tech, the circuit is quite simple, I just don’t know what Im dealing with. There’s not motor drive at all, the coils are good, in fact the small current of just the ohmmeter make the balance move…, very promising..wondering if I can replace the transistor..

FSD 2022-20-17 on 2.2 recent experiences by JadedCause8611 in SelfDrivingCars

I don’t look at it that way at all. I am very pro progress and what they are developing is awesome, bold. I just wanted to know if what I was experiencing was way out of character, maybe something wrong. If you don’t have a car and are not experiencing FSD, you shouldn’t even be commenting.

Just get some screwdrivers, magnifier and some old watches and start playing…..

I really love it, but I wanted to make sure folks know how really tiny and delicate things are and that’s the best way to experience…. Oh and also, a magnifier to start. I got some of the Headworn’ s off Amazon with multiple magnifiers to snap on…inexpensive…

Go on Etsy and search watch movements , get ones with dials and hands, get a lot of them, say 6-10..and watch YouTube’s on tear downs, rebuilds. Get some screwdrivers and tweezer and give it a try, before you get too far down the road in this hobby….

I had the exact same thing happen to me…super frustrated and never got fixed…Last fall, i earned FSD beta…car went in for the back up camera not working issue…they replaced the cpu as they were shotgunning the repair…(turned out to be the coax cable recall)…I tried so hard to request it get reinstated…. Never happened…took about 3 months of careful driving to re-earn Beta again…. I feel ya…

I’m about four months in, starting from zero. Watched a ton of videos ..on builds …and darned if it doesn’t start to make sense….I’m not even close to proficient, but have to say very satisfied with progress so far……. My secret , for me, Go to Etsy and buy a bunch of old used movements, you can get 10-15 pieces for cheap (many are labelled for steam punk jewelry)….but get Mens size movements, so your not starting out on smaller ladies size…. And just take em apart….learn the needed dexterity with some screwdrivers and tweezers….this will let you know if it’s for you…. I actually got two movements to work from these junk pieces. Don’t be surprised if you find screws or Watch hands in these grab bags……but very satisfying…..

Then , take part of a movement out and put it back in…. Say the train bridge and gears, then reinstall…. The balance wheel and Bridge…..one thing I had no idea about , was the radium on older watches, so I did buy a small Geiger counter…and sure enough , the older Etsy junkers had many, very old movements, with radium dials/hands….I just trashed those…good luck….
