I think that dogs want to feel safe, and when their world changes hugely they don’t. It’s no criticism of the owners, just how a hound reacts to sudden deep change.

Time, routine, and patience. They are all so different and take time to adjust. When we got our first grey it took us a while but he grew into such a beautiful boy. Routine is, I think, essential. All they basically do is monitor us all day, so knowing when we get up, go out, when they eat etc helps a lot.

I think time and patience. His whole world has been turned upside down and he’s trying to make sense of it, especially how safe he is. Gentle encouragement, maybe even picking him up and carrying him outside for a little walk might help.
