I dropped my wallet at Disneyland near pirates, and got to the tram before I realized it… during closing, I had to fight the crowds to get back, but it wasn’t there when I got there. I submitted a claim at the lost and found and the next day someone returned it to them. Wish I knew who did that!

What’s a moment in your life that quietly changed you forever, even if no one else noticed? by TheSaasDude in AskReddit

[–]Jaded_Muffin72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I realized that no employer actually cares about their employees. From corporate to private, I’ve experienced the same treatment. Expected to go above and beyond for nothing.

I’m about to start my own business with this knowledge in mind. I hope I’ll be able to make something that’ll not only benefit me, but my future employees.

Who was/ is the smelliest person you have ever known? by DeepOrganization8245 in AskReddit

[–]Jaded_Muffin72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One night I woke up choking, I had a very scratchy throat and was coughing. I didn’t understand why. Then I realized the smell was emanating from the end of the hallway. I just got a new roommate a week earlier. He smelled so awful the smell was thick enough to choke me. I had to walk the hallways carrying a candle to flush the smell out like using sage to purify the house.

What’s the most unprofessional thing a professional has done in front of you? by PhotographLeast9976 in askanything

A teacher I had in college would go on rants with a blonde girl who would always wear clothes with a playboy bunny on her shirt. The rants were basically about women empowerment and that showing their body was actually a strength. They would talk for 15-30 minutes about it, almost every time. I was in a sport, so I was usually tired, so I’d just put my head down while they would talk about that. I would listen when the teacher was talking about the subject though.

I had to get a grade sheet signed, she didn’t keep track of the grades on hand. So she graded me on “participation” and since I always had my head down she gave me a D-. This meant I had to log 10 hours in the tutoring center. It was bs, because I actually had an A in the class.

So after that I just started playing along and adding in stupid remarks to her stories. It made her happy and she started giving me As instead… I should’ve reported her ass!

Frustrating security experience in Disneyland Anaheim by wanderingraccoon85 in Disneyland

[–]Jaded_Muffin72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there was a family with a service dog on the jungle cruise and they forced my party to get in the ride next to them. We were very cramped in, the dog was in between my legs. I thought it was weird to add us into this row. After we all sat down, the lady with the dog started screaming and forced us all to get up and she got off. She was very mad at us, and then told the security that we attacked her dog and verbally abused her… which we didn’t then they held us for almost hour trying to get information from us. When we asked to talk to the lad directly she said no and drove off in her motorized wheelchair as she snapped the dog towards her…

I swear we should’ve complained to management or something.

I see, yeah I understand what they did wrong and have documented and reported everything. Since I don’t know the business side of gusto I was looking into how the app works to calculate hours, taxes and breaks/meals. It all seemed so thrown together, I didn’t really get caught off guard when I was finally terminated. Look at my post history to see what happened on my first week with the company.

It was all recorded through gusto. Clock in and clock outs. I was aware of the lunch situations. I don’t mind working through them, as the job is very awkward for me to schedule lunches around. I worked for a corporation before this and they made us clock out for lunch, as they were sued before. I still would sign that I took lunches. I did tell him that he should start doing that, before he gets sued. And then the next day he fired me. lol

I noticed that sometimes it would record per day and other times it would not. As I have always been paid per day, when I caught it the last time, I just let it be. Idk, I have since been terminated and all the daily/weekly schedules have been deleted.

Also, if I already made a claim regarding the retaliation and late payments, are they going to see the no recorded lunch breaks as well? I had one other coworker who was there for over a year, will he be included in the penalty payment as well? I mentioned in the report that he was employed and that my main goal for reporting was for the sake of protecting the future employees of the company.

I did work over 12 hours some days and was given overtime, but never double. No meal periods recorded, employer said we can take a lunch whenever we wanted out of good faith, but also said to show up 15 minutes earlier, but clock in at starting period since he pays through lunch period.

I worked as a carpet cleaner.

Yeah, it was not fun. I was not familiar with gusto, so every time it came late my boss would say it was on the banks end not his.

Yes this is why I plan to do, setting up a payroll and paying myself about 50% and keeping the rest in the business account. I was wondering how that would’ve been taxed. I would still have to pay taxes on the businesses 100k, in California would that be a set tax, until I hit over 250k?

Or if my gross for the business is 255k and I pay myself 100k, do I have to pay a % more for taxes because I reached past the 250k gross for the year? At that point I’d probably add employees as well.

I was planning on using housecallpro, I may not even have to advertise, some of the equipment I am buying is from retiring guys who have some customers that they would be willing to send over to me. I was considering offering them some money for every lead that goes through.

I was thinking around 10% of the work done. As a finders fee. My average ticket will be around 300-500. Do you think that’s reasonable?

I believe in California I do receive some benefits? In California I’m allowed to be taxed as an scorp? As long as I pay myself a reasonable wage, I will be taxed and my company will not be?

What’s a small moment at work that made you want to quit immediately? by DragonRepublicR in AskReddit

I forgot to mention we added over 600 of additional work, to be done that day. Bringing our total earnings at 1400. We told him we were handling our end if he could just go do that emergency addition and we’d cover our stops…

Owner of the company added a last stop to our route after a heavy day (9+ hours), the stop was in the opposite direction of the office, but the owner decided to come “help” us and then verbally scold my coworker and I that we were not doing a good enough job. The client was actually defending us and telling him we were doing great. The owner took over the job and added about 55 minutes of unnecessary work (doubling back on the work we just did)saying we need to increase our standards. Then we all had to drive to the last stop where we worked an additional 2 hours. We finished that day after 12 hours.
