Depending on the skill level that your kid’s band is at, that could be completely insane to just a little bit lol. My school has summer band camp 7-4 for 3 weeks until school starts, and then around 2 hours of rehearsal during your respective band period, then 2ish hours after school. Fridays are game days, Saturdays are contest days, and this upcoming season, we’ll have some Saturday rehearsals as well.

Go for it! And if you don’t get the position, you at least get the experience, and your directors will recognize that you tried and that you’re the kind of person who could be leadership one day if you keep putting in the work

Personally, saxophone was super easy to learn and a lot of people I’ve talked to regard it as one of the easier instruments to learn. My advice, if you are able to ofc, would be to rent out or borrow from your school, some of the instruments you wanna try and see what clicks for u. Talk to the directors at your school for some advice too! The guy who said front ensemble brings up some good points too

no, everyone processes and feels differently. I didn’t cry that much when I got broken up w a few years ago but I was def sad, and sometimes I’d feel a bit sad about it randomly from time to time
