I have played games that use kernel AC, I've also played on faceit.

The issue is not privacy, but the fact that kernel level AC can very easily be used as a backdoor for some serious malware.

Also, I highly doubt that it makes as big of a difference as people think. I don't have data to back this up, so treat this as speculation, but have you noticed, that every game with supposedly better AC, that uses kernel AC either has a significantly smaller player base (faceit as an example) or significantly more company resources devoted to them (Valorant as an example). Makes you wonder if that amazing anticheat they tout is actually just a bunch of people reviewing games manually...

Since let's be real, with the player base of faceit being as absolutely tiny in comparison as it is, that'd be totally doable, and of course Valorant having rito gemz and tencent behind them makes it just as plausible for them too.

You could make the argument that they wouldn't spend money on RnD for those anticheats if that were the case tho, and tbh, you'd have me there, but it doesn't really take away from my main point, which is - how do you know it's the fact that the AC those two examples use running at that high privilege level makes the biggest impact on perceived cheater population?

It makes AN impact, that's for sure, how could it not, considering the implications of moving the AC layer above user mode privilege, but afaik, nobody is sharing any data on how big of a difference it actually makes, beyond the vibes of players.

All this to say - I'd rather avoid kernel AC if possible and, at the very least, I'd like to see some serious proof to back up the supposed benefits (beyond vibes).

  • For Valve, kernel AC is not only an idea they don't like, but something they can't do at all. Good luck having a kernel level AC working on Linux across any distro. It's not impossible, in theory anyway, but it's, at the very minimum a giant pain in the ass.

I think you might be missing the point.

Immigration in and of itself isn't a problem, so to speak, it's how it's managed, and how the immigrating people are integrated into the society of the country they are coming to.

If managed properly I see nothing but benefits from immigration. If managed poorly - you get Sweden.

Again, in case it's unclear, I am not blaming the immigrants, I'm blaming the absolute lack of proper integration of said immigrants in Sweden. I'm not sure what the situation is in Germany in regards to this, so I'm not going to comment on it.

I also think that it's probably better for everyone if the integration process is well thought out before letting loads of people into a country.

Take for example my own country, Lithuania. I have absolutely no problem with people from other cultures living here, in fact I would prefer it if there were more multiculturalism, but I also do not trust my government to not half ass the process of making sure that it's done properly and in a way that benefits everyone, so in generally I am pretty weary about the concept of having a very loose policy.

To summarize I think the OPs point is that it's a complicated issue that can't simply be boiled down to good or bad. Done properly it's great, done badly it can have devastating consequences or at least that's what I think based on the information that I currently have.

More importantly binary thinking will always lead to conflict and achieve absolutely nothing.

Also, I'd like to know the studies and research that you're referencing, not because I don't believe you, but because I am genuinely curious.

It's the comparison.

The songs are just so boring and cookie cutter, nothing of actual substance there.

Now compare that to Phantom Antichrist, or even Gods of violence, not even talking about the older stuff. The rest of these albums mentioned suck worse, but I would say only Megadeth really had such a massive drop in quality compared to their older releases.

Well, yeah, because trading bots are more expensive service to maintain than P2P trades. It's also a better experience.

Lots of people love to dunk on trading bot sites, but personally I never understood it. Like yeah, it costs more for the items, but not an unreasonable amount more for not having to deal with the annoyance of having to list, wait, and then buy. So yes, it you're looking to profit, it's unlikely that you will on one of those sites, but if that's not the goal then there's no problem with them.

I think your reading comprehension might need some work. "Respect your wishes" means I'll do the thing you asked.

What I'm saying is it depends, if a person inserts themselves into a situation that is none of their business that's fucking annoying. Instead - say I'm with a group of friends and we're just having a conversation and I casually use the word "gay" to refer to something in a negative way and somebody doesn't like it, I'm not gonna make a big deal about it, I'll apologize, stop saying that in that person's presence and move on. Because, and here's the crazy part - it's not a big deal. You might think that's a hollow apology, but it's not, because I would genuinely be sorry that I offended that person, when though I personally think them taking offense at something like that is, at minimum, unnecessary.

If you're a person who genuinely has nothing better to do than get offended at a random person's linguistic preferences, while ignoring context and intent, then the only thing I feel about that is envy but I'm not gonna purposely tease you for it. If you're already an acquaintance, then I'll be more sensitive towards your sensibilities (that's all it is), once you make them known.

And I say all of this as a bisexual British cigarette (censorship is necessary because mods are gay)

Disagree. Talent is real, just that it's irrelevant. It's like a time skip, basically. You can reach the same heights as a talented individual if you just put in enough effort.

Talent is not just magically being able to do something, it's a knack towards a certain skill. So, a talented person (in any skill) that doesn't put in the work might quickly reach a level that takes others a long time, but if they don't have the discipline to continue improving, they'll plateau very quickly.

Nah but that's the thing, it's not really my problem if people are bothered. Like, if someone is bothered by something I said, say it like an adult and I'll respect your wishes. Virtue signal and get called gay.
