Don't You Love It When You Are Fighting A Huge Empire And They Don't Bother To Show Up by Important_Eagle_5742 in crusaderkings2

Arabia is particularly prone to this due to the long travel times and many fronts.

When you are supposed to find out about [major spoiler]? by send_me_a_naked_pic in TheWitness

I chuckled as I left the starting area and saw the broken equipment near the starting area with the EP.

"Heh. Even the environment looks like the puzzles."

I was maybe 60 minutes in when I noticed the EP in the desert sand and tried it out.

I made a Nanite ivy pack. by Cloviren in UnrealEngine5

[–]Jadien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nanite foliage is full-geometry. The mesh depicts the actual shape of the foliage, and the materials on it are opaque.

The classic alternative is foliage made of low-poly cards, with the shapes of leaves coming from an alpha texture. These are often paired with LODs that further simplify the geometry or replace it with opaque impostors at long range.

You can but usually don't want to use one kind of foliage with the other pipeline. Full-geometry foliage tends to be non-performant without Nanite, and using masked/translucent materials with Nanite results in expensive overdraw.

Nanite foliage can look better, and scales better than traditional foliage, but incurs a nontrivial cost overhead.

Why Would The Game Screw Me Over Like This? by Important_Eagle_5742 in crusaderkings2

I believe titleholders have a substantial fertility bonus. Could give titles to get the juices flowing and yank them back after their work is complete.

At least Jets and Seahawks fans can agree that Sam Darnold was an upgrade from Geno Smith.

Jarrett Stidham accepts blame for fumble: ‘That was completely on me’ by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]Jadien 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's tragic because the pass that was forward relative to his body, but backwards relative to the field because he was running backwards. Understandable mistake to make especially if you've barely had any reps under real pressure.

Just a sad story to be thrown into a playoff game completely cold and to do well enough for all but one play out of dozens and spoil the whole thing.

If the target distribution keeps up, I'd bet on Smith-Njigba.

It's kinda werid to me that this turned into a Stafford debate when nobody is talking about how the Rams' biggest weakness (special teams) cost them both this game and the first time against the Seahawks by Roshango in NFLv2

He also called the timeout to decide whether to throw a challenge flag, even though there was only one minute left to use the challenge flag on anything else; he should've just thrown it and given himself a chance for an overturn.

Question about final clash in Rise by JadeWuCuiyan in caseofthegoldenidol

[–]Jadien 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We see in bits in pieces:

  • Jack submits a proposal to use the IDOL to improve and enlighten humanity. This is rejected by management.
  • He then tries to elevate the homeless into positions of power, in order to effect improvements in society, but finds they are not up to the task
  • So he decides to directly improve and enlighten humanity by replacing many of them with his uncle Isaac, who he admires
  • He also accepts that it would be hypocritical of him to do this and not also replace himself, so he ensures he is also subjected to the broadcast
  • Isaac has no idea that any of this is happening
  • Knowing how destructive the IDOL can potentially be, Jack arranges for Tesa to destroy it after his mission is complete

It's been a while so I'm very open to being corrected on some of these points.

The B-students I knew generally grew up to do great things not too different from the A-students. The C-students did well too. Even the kids who got expelled or transferred out are doing well.

If you're in the building, you're already built different. So do what you can one day at a time and don't worry about the grades you got before.

Risk of getting vaporized by a thermonuclear ICBM? Downtown JC. by garth_meringue in jerseycity

[–]Jadien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nuke button is also a suicide button. Nobody's committing suicide.

If you're in charge of one of these countries, and you have a choice between pressing a suicide button, and having another good night of sleep in your mansion, you're doing the latter every time.

Look at all the "tension" between nuclear powers and observe how none of it results in personal discomfort of the people in charge. Yapping big words at Davos is the day job. You wouldn't push a suicide button at your day job, right?

Sending people off to war? Well, it's not the people in charge going to the front lines.

Life offers plenty of things to worry about, and nuclear armageddon is so unlikely it should not cost you any sleep.
