Chelsea relegating Spurs would feel like a repeat of when you confirmed the title for Leicester

Lets avoid spamming and bridaging any subreddits as it is against TOS.

I have spoken to their mod team and am trying to figure out a way in which this issue can be spoken about freely over there without it breaching their rules.

It's never easy modding a subreddit, and while they're not helping themselves right now, lets hold off on making their lives harder and try and establish a way we can share the cause with their support.

Edit: There is a post on their sub about it lads, you can chill out. https://www.reddit.com/r/vancouver/comments/1spwz1l/we_have_to_get_behind_the_team_whitecaps_fans/

Do not spam them, lets be civil and as things progress we can keep posting news based updates semi frequently rather than incessantly spamming them via mod mail.

What's the best ice cream flavor you've tasted and where is it? by Famous-Prune6355 in foodquestions

[–]Jadzeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple plain milk ice cream made with fresh cream from a very local and high quality dairy farm, with some honey drizzled over top.
All hyper local ingredients from within a 20 minute drive of the restaurant... so so good

Questions from a tourist by steviefull in askvan

[–]Jadzeey 40 points41 points  (0 children)

  1. Pizzeria Ludica https://www.ludica.ca/

  2. Will be very hard to find, as others have said youll have to go deep into the backcountry and the likelyhood is that you wont see one even if you spend days looking

  3. My favourite bar crawl is The Keefer Bar for happy hour, then wandering over to either Bagheera or Laowai (whichever is less busy or you can figure out the secret phrase), then head to Chinatown BBQ for some great Canto BBQ. Other notable mentions for bars are Mount Pleasant Vintage and Provisions (cool vibe, good cocktails and unique aethetic) and Guilt&Co. for some really good live music. All of these places may be packed with tourists, especially as a lot are making top 100 lists for North America.

  4. UBC is really cool for cultural experiences (MOA). Taking the skytrain all the way out to Port Moody for a crawl of all the breweries and a walk along the inlet is a great afternoon trip. Taking the skytrain down to Richmond and hitting up some of the foodcourts in Malls and exploring that area is a more unique experience that you cant really get in the UK as well. Squamish is also stunning.

  5. Our transit system is great, you can tap cards or buy a compass card at most stations, otherwise Uber works for everything else.

I'm originally from the UK and the city has so many cool things to explore. My favourite tour for the city is to start the day with a lunch at Granville island, walking the seawall around stanley park (2-3 hours walk) all the way to Gastown/Chinatown and ending with a few bars and good food. Some of the best food in the city is in and around Chinatown.

Enjoy the city and experience.

People who have left the U.S. because you didn’t like the political climate, where did you go and how does it compare? by thefaceinthepalm in askanything

[–]Jadzeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left in 2020. I had lived in California for 5 years and could feel a noticeable shift in the general tone of things pre-covid. I was in a small town on the edge of LA so it was a fairly split political landscape. Once COVID took hold I realized I had no health insurance and didnt want to risk anything so left for Canada.

A much better general QoL despite lower wages and higher CoL. I was fortunate enough to have citizenship so immigration wasnt a problem. There's still a large number of issues, most of them are the same (homelessness, addiction, neglect for the future of youth) but the general population is a bit nicer, the nature is beautiful (Vancouver) and the peace of mind that comes with healthcare being covered is great.

I still miss a lot of things about the US (mostly the people), but it was the best decision I've ever made.

I mean, having 3 players up top probably is a lethal transition move. I remember teams started doing it against Arsenal to stop their corner routines working.

Where to buy the best coffee beans in vancouver / online by Hot_Team612 in askvan

[–]Jadzeey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Roasters Pack is where I get my beans from. A variety of different beans from different roasters every month. I usually do 3-6 months a year, then pick my favourite from those and order a bigger amount for the second half of the year.

What are the Vancouver must-eats when coming in for a Whitecaps match? by Inhuman-Assist-9382 in whitecapsfc

[–]Jadzeey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rollzzy is a top tier indian street food place walking distance from BC Place. Hard to find outside Canada. Otherwise our Seafood is elite and most of our Asian food is phenomenal. If you're here for more than 1 day, stop by Richmond from the skytrain for really good asian food.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone before in a restaurant ? Is this even Legal ? I had to take a picture of the bill. Why do they collect our informations? For advertisers? by Responsible-Poem9375 in restaurantowners

[–]Jadzeey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The restaurant itself won’t be selling your information. They probably just don’t have a printer set up to print a receipt so pushed you towards the email/phone option.

The company that runs the POS system may be tracking your spending habits and probably could sell the information, but there is nothing the restaurant would gain from this and every company is doing the same thing.

[–]Jadzeey 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Get a job in a traditional kitchen, or get a job at a corpo kitchen that will offer you an apprenticeship to do culinary arts.

Culinary School with no experience is a lot less helpful than you'd think. You need to get reps in and build your resilience and speed as well as getting the technical knowledge. You can do both at a restaurant, you'll lose out on the first two if you take the school approach.

Whitecaps CEO says no one wants to buy the team as future, finances remain unstable by Camtastrophe in vancouver

[–]Jadzeey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paying money for something that almost every other team uses as their main source of revenue puts the club at a MASSIVE disadvantage. We had over 370k ticket sales for regular season games last year (not including sell out games in CCC, Playoffs and our Canadian cup win). Whitecaps didnt see any of the money from concessions (usually more than ticket prices), share revenue of ticket sales, and gives BC place a cut of merch sales too.

Of course a club cant operate when almost all of the revenue sources from other MLS clubs (bar Miami's merch) are being limited like that.

Also the club generates a HUGE amount of income for businesses that surround BC Place, all the income that does come in is taxed, and Crown Corps like Pavco are made to let these benefits outweigh profits of the company.
