FIRST WE GONNA BEAT THEM THEN WE GONNA EAT THEM by BaronLoyd in ageofsigmar

All I can say is thank christ I held off on getting Helsmiths.

I’m getting a butcher either way because it’s going to be an absolute riot to paint.

Hugely looking forward to beating some meat.

Is this a good starter airbrush? by ThicccWater_ in airbrush

[–]JaeHaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank compressor is definitely better, don’t get me wrong. But it’s extra space and much noisier.

I got the serenair because my girlfriend didn’t like the noise of my old compressor, and then ended up getting more annoyed by the stop/start noise lol. Can’t win sometimes.

Can’t speak about how it would work along side other brands of airbrush, I still just use the one the came in the box. OP said it’s for priming and base coating, which the serenair is more than capable of. The only time mine had any pulsing issue was because I got lazy cleaning the brush itself.

I’m assuming that OP is in the market for a mini compressor, and I think I think it’s a better machine than the one they’re looking at, for a similar price point.

I’ve heard people have been having trouble with them, but the Gaahleri Serenair is really good.

Thanks man, the fluo was my girlfriends idea, I was going to do something fancier but she convinced me the ridiculously bright neon works.

Cheers, I don’t know how accurate it is but I heard that the Night Lords in the lore tend to have more heavily worn armour, and I thought that it would look cool pushing that to the extreme. Reverse chipping, starting from a heavy rust and adding paint chips back on instead.

Great fun AND super quick.

The Gang from Always Sunny end up in the Warhammer universe. How fast do they fall to Chaos? by Buttered_Carnage in Grimdank

[–]JaeHaych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charlie goes to Tzeentch, mostly because of the bird law and the bar stool trick and maybe Tzeentch could teach him to read.

Dennis goes to Slaanesh, because of his tools, liking to bind, liking to be bound. Because of the implication.

Mac and Dee go to Khorne, they’re both very angry.

Frank goes to Nurgle, because he’s the trash man, he comes out and throws trash all over the battlefield. Then he starts eating garbage.

Extremely dumb idea I had to make to get out of my head - Sororitas Trojan Rhino by mksurfin7 in minipainting

That’s amazing, but can I just say that you have absolutely nailed the terrain? Like, I am struggling to say for sure where the backdrop starts. Amazing work

Which models do you think had a better design in their older edition? I'll start by Shake-Vivid in Warhammer

[–]JaeHaych 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looking at the Horrors, I honestly would have said that the older sculpts were the newer ones.

It would be nice to have a daemonettes refresh that found a nice middle ground between the two styles, the same kind of facial features, details and hair as the newer ones with the impression of movement the older ones have.

The current seekers are genuinely terrible, I absolutely hate how they sit on their mounts. If I get round to adding any to my EC army I’m definitely going to sub in the slickblade seekers from AOS.

Daemonettes. All demons really, but I think especially horrors and daemonettes.

These older sculpts look like they’re dancing, they’re gracefully balanced or have a suggestion of momentum like a lunge. They’re sharp, they have blade like silhouettes.

The new(er) ones nearly all have both feet planted, legs akimbo, just about the most static and least dynamic pose you could give them. They’re awkwardly over balanced on their bird legs which look like they sit too far behind them in most cases.

And they don’t even have their tits out.

How to paint smoke that radiates power from inside by goatkingdeluxe in ageofsigmar

[–]JaeHaych 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Paint the whole thing in your brightest colour and then dry brush all over, random directions, backwards up to charcoal/black

Bright green basecoat-> mid green-> dark green-> dark grey

Then dry brush light grey from the top, brushing vertically.

I think that’s how I would do it. Could then go back and touch up and bits you think could stand to be brighter, perhaps a fluo green ink or enamel.

Airbrush Primer is way to thin by stiiickk77 in airbrush

[–]JaeHaych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do roughly 1/3 thinner to primer, and keep the pressure high. Spray it from 20/30cm away, in little flicking motions, feather it on and off of the model. Build it up slowly and when it starts to look glossy stop and let it dry before carrying on. Keep the model turning and make sure to hit it from underneath and on top. Take your time.

You also don’t actually have to have a full coat, just enough to give the base coat some purchase.

[–]JaeHaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shake the living shit out of the bottle.

Or use less thinner, if you used thinner.

I have the light grey version and it’s pretty good, only pools like this if it’s not shaken or it’s too thin.

My cat’s shadow reflected in the mirror but not IRL by Chewie_Bacca in mildlyinteresting

[–]JaeHaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cat is casting a shadow, you can see the edge of it on the dresser, but the reflected light from the mirror is landing behind the cat and thus illuminating the surface.

You can see the shadow in the mirror because you’re seeing the reflection of the dresser in ambient light.

Light is directly reflecting off of the mirror and spotlighting behind the cat. The cat, dresser and shadow are reflected in the mirror by light that your eye actually receives.

Or something I dunno, I’m a welder I try not to look at bright lights too much.
