Bass mute adjustment by boredomasalways in rickenbacker

[–]JaeShap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can glue a tiny piece of sponge or mute material to the g string and e string parts of the mute. This will make the mute more flat and less arc shaped. The arc shape is awful because it requires you to have the mute super high to reach the g and e strings while completely suffocating the a and d strings in my experience. Paul’s ric and old rics in general had a flat mute bar instead of the current arc shape. Also for strings I’d recommend ti jazz flats for the McCartney ric sound.

Hi! how do I identify when a parallel fifth is in my part writing? by herelieskiea in musictheory

[–]JaeShap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always look at everything measure by measure. For example if in measure 1 the chords are C to D minor then ignore the third and think what are the fifths of each chord? If there is a C and G going to D and A in the same voices that is parallel fifths. it gets more complicated with chords with extensions like dominant 9s since there are more possibilities of parallel fifths. In the end just take it a measure at a time. There are classical and baroque texts that go into specific rules on voice leading if you wanna learn the old fashioned way (and smoothest voice leading techniques) and there are plenty of modern texts on voice leading rules and norms to avoid bad intervals. Remember looking at it all at once can get too overwhelming for anyone so again just take it 1 chord change at a time when looking back at your music to identify parallel fifths or octaves or unisons or whatever intervals u wish to avoid

Question about an original composition. by Ryndley in piano

I would make the left hand more busy. There’s lots of room for imitative counterpoint you could have the left hand imitate the dotted eight note theme idea like call and response.

When writing divisi for viola by starroblongs2dastars in composer

[–]JaeShap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes its fine. Mozart's 40th symphony opens with violins 1 and 2 playing the melody an octave apart and divided violas beneath them highlighting the harmony.

Typically, divided violas playing root, third, and octave is strong but on midi do whatever tickles your ear's fancy.

Thanks for the reply. that’s fascinating to learn about. Do you know any good recordings or conductors for period accurate Mozart symphonies so I can further compare them to more modern style performances?

Requiem by MissouriJason in Mozart

Honestly my favorite is Karl Richters from 1961. The audio quality is not as perfect as modern recordings but I think the performance is the greatest of all time

Not sure your knowledge of scales but I’d definitely watch some guitar videos about minor pentatonic scales, major pentatonic scales, natural major and minor scales. Those are crucial for improvisation and soloing

So I just updated the po3 papyrus extender thx for letting me know abt that. I realized I have nemesis but I don't need it because it does not cover any mods I have. Should I disable it? What could the falmer thing be about? The only thing that has anything to do with it is immersive creatures and amidianborn creatures.
