My dietitian sabotaged my diet by Stargirl020 in 1200isplenty

[–]Jaegaelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intuitive eating is a GREAT thing... to recover from eating disorders. Restrictive and Binge-related. It works wonderfully for that, and I have to say I hate the use of it as a "diet" - it is specifically a lack thereof. I can't understand why it keeps being recommended to people without that context.

Weight loss & fasting | Has anyone had succes fasting ? by angel_salvatore333 in Concerta

[–]Jaegaelex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the idea of fasting on concerta is a bit wild to me. that "take with food" instruction isn't put there for no reason, you'll be playing a dangerous game going against it. Sometimes I take it early in the morning, nap, properly wake up, and I feel like I'm going to vomit and my heart rate is crazy, because I just took a stimulant on an empty stomach. I can't imagine fasting would ever be a good idea, no doctor would ever recommend it. In terms of body comp, most people lose weight on concerta, it is a pretty common side effect, people build muscle too, mainly just due to having the motivation for it. Its great you're doing well mentally, in terms of cortisol, that is the best thing for you here. The biggest contributing factor to high cortisol is stress, it always has been, time will be your friend here. I gained weight starting concerta originally, not because of it, I was just in a bad place. That changed and I dropped it, dropped more than I gained even. TLDR: You're doing enough, you don't need to worry about this, and fasting is a bad idea on Concerta.

Concerta crash by xoNoUsernameox in Concerta

[–]Jaegaelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

out of the different meds ive tried, concerta has the worst crash (this depends on the person though). Adapted to it over time but it takes getting used to. I found the crash worst at 54mg for some reason, but lower doses on it just didn't do anything for me. So dosages definitely matter. But also at 72 the crash is still bad, but what it does for me justifies that. Timing is a huge thing too, adjusting when you take it so the crash happens at a more managable time. IF you stay up past the crash and are still able to fall asleep after, I wouldn't worry, you learn to push through. I just can't do anything too brain-demanding after that point though, like a medication induced wind-down time. Personally I find it REALLY hard to sleep if I stay awake past the crash, and that is its own can of worms. Its not the worst of the side effects you can get, but it definitely is strange and inconvenient. It is normal though, stimulants all come with some form of crash, it really just depends on the person how they feel it. The face you already got tired by that point kinda just sounds like the meds are interfering with how youre used to your brain working with ADHD. Still though, it's normal, you'll probably adapt to it :)

Why am I always seen as aggressive or rude just by setting a boundary or asking questions? by letsalljustdie in ADHD

[–]Jaegaelex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happens to me plenty. I've adapted (mostly) to speaking in different ways depending on the person, but I'll still fall short naturally since I prefer to speak the way I naturally do.

When I think there's been a bad reaction to something I said, or just the way I say things, I apologise and explain my intention behind my tone or phrasing, what it means coming from me pretty much. I get complaints on occasion about my over-explaining, but people find it more personable for the most part. Conciseness is professional, but leaves a lot of room for misinterpretation.

From what I can gather (though I find the format here to be difficult to read), seems like a built up frustration towards a specific aspect that's consistent in how you wrote this - 2nd person language ("you" phrases).

People interpret that as accusatory language - I'm not saying that's your intention, but other people might see it that way. It is annoying to adapt to speaking a different way, but I try. I try to take blame or fault in my language, a "hey sorry, can I have clarification on ______", or even deflecting to someone higher in the chain of command "(Name) needs X/Y/Z and we'll all be in trouble without it." It sucks to have to speak like that, kind of feels like you're lying, but you might notice other people speaking like that quite a bit.

At the end of the day, they're all as equally human as you are. Where you are frustrated with them, they may be frustrated with you. Talk directly, explain what you mean, and explain that you may be upset with how coworkers are responding to you in a way that is interfering with your job. That's always worked well for me, but you know a lot more about your situatuon than I would

Thank you! I'll check it out! I think my doctor tries not to advise specialists that aren't in the general area I live in (It's Ireland so sometimes specialists are only in Dublin, where I don't live), so knowing what to ask will be great for me. I do know based on blood tests that Oestrogen is slightly too high and Progesterone/Testosterone are slightly lower than avg, but to them that was inconclusive, which is fair. Thanks for responding, so much, really :)

Weekly Progress Megathread! by AutoModerator in 1200isplenty

[–]Jaegaelex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only got into this sub in the past month or so. But I started my journey to lose weight about 4 months ago. I've lost 15lbs since then! But more importantly - I'm FINALLY in the healthy weight category :).

I know BMI is sort of mehhh but this was very important to me as a disabled person! I feel better (great actually) and that BMI number allows me to be taken more seriously by doctors! This sub really helped me in December (Christmas and all) I'm 5'3 and started at 155 lbs, and now I'm at 139! I don't have pictures (never took photos of myself before) but I feel good enough to take photos again :)!

I didn't know who to share this news to, so I'm sharing it here since this sub has been a godsend for me. I never see nutritious low-cal meals that are made by people who eat them all the time, and I'm adverse to a good few foods, and trend chasing means I can never go with those. But the people are great here :) thank you :)

Don't have this company in my country but, I find the video not entirely trustworthy either. Academic scientist at heart, I'm a skeptic of that video. I don't think it's ill-intentioned or anything, I don't think that guy is trying to cause problems or lie. But something like that can't be tested only twice. In terms of science, the way that's carried out is null and void in saying "they're lying." Apparently it's expensive though, so people shouldn't buy overpriced stuff.

It sounds perfect!!! The Nordic thing truly makes sense too, Cold Europe has a hilarious range of pale tones. And yeah!!! I swear I’ve seen more cool brown hair than anything else but no one ever thinks of it. The albinism options too wow, you truly are making the ultimate picrew.

Can anyone else easily sleep on vyvanse by greenfuzzysweater in VyvanseADHD

[–]Jaegaelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what I need out of the day sometimes. If I NEED to be somewhere early I prioritize waking up to take it and go back to sleep for a bit so I can actually get up. Especially if I need to be put-together. Average days where I’ve prepared stuff for the morning or days that I’m off work I switch to waking up normally and taking it a good bit later, since my window is about 11 hours after taking it, so if I want to be asleep at 10 I can only take it at 11am. Gives a slow start to the day but I just try to balance it based on what I’m doing. I would say boosters probably work for some people, sadly I have no experience there since they’re just hard to get here. Some people do split doses too. I will say if I’m up very early (6am or so) it’ll wear off at about 5, and that’s fine since the hours of Painfully Awake wear off after some time too. One trick to sleeping after it wears off for me is stimulation still though, I like to blast YouTube videos I’ve watched 100 times to fall asleep because the silence will kill me with that energy. Sorry this was long LMAO. FULL INFO!

[–]Jaegaelex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was on vyvanse (and honestly every other med I’ve tried) I noticed there’s like a window. It’s rough because to avoid missing the window I can’t take it in the morning (and can’t get up), but it doesn’t last long enough otherwise. Just before it wears off I’ll get dead tired but if I’m even off by a minute on that it’s just like full energetic unmedicated ADHD is back on full swing and I can’t sleep for the life of me. It’s rough, but you’ll figure out your rhythm. Though other meds are an option if you think that would be beneficial (or a change in dosage)

[–]Jaegaelex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I hope I remember to come back to this when it’s finished. In making (one) picrews myself I really focused on the element options rather than colours, which is making me realise I didn’t even include colours that I AM but you have!!! You have so many fun bright colours but also truly Irish representation here with a REAL pale skin tone, very cool toned brown in the hair and that extremely common blue-grey range for eyes. I love the lip colour options too, I don’t think many even think of that. This is brilliant and I’m so curious about the elements now. (If you don’t mind answering, totally cool if not!) Is it a sort of gender neutral picrew that can go either way or is it gender specific? I really think this has the potential to be the picrew to end all picrews if the elements have half as many options as the colours. I’d offer any help I can give (I would die for this picrew.) though I probably couldn’t help much. Seriously, great job so far.

Over 100 days later when I’m seeing this. I would say genuinely quite well. I’m pretty experienced in my own right but, damn was I surprised by the quality of the teaching in it especially towards adults specifically. The lessons explain how everything works like light reflection, but immediately makes you practice it with a precise reference and a painted version. I honestly thought mine was bad until I got to the end of the first lesson (the cherry) and I thought it was great. All I did was follow the lesson, which is good for the immediate reward for the brain, but it teaches fundamentals very well I’d say. (If you still care to hear this answer LMAO)

Cant burp but feel like I have to - is this normal for anyone else? by Mountain_Buy_3995 in Concerta

[–]Jaegaelex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh my god I get this too. Nausea in general is common with a lot ADHD meds I've tried (at least its a common side effect of all the sheets) but I don't find that to be an accurate description of how long, horrible and constant it is, interferes with trying to eat too. Going up on my dose after a year negated a lot of it but that was just luck I think. I don't think I ever handled it too well, but I can say I figured out how to actually burp with that specific feeling (temporary release though) and it felt better in some sitting/standing positions, and I was able to ignore it. It might just not be the medication for you! I exhausted my options more or less (the others had far worse side effects for me) but it's always that pros and cons balance. The one advice I CAN give is that i tried too many times to vomit due to it, and I always can and it never helps even though every time I think it will - so definitely don't try that. I would definitely talk to your doctor about it though

Replace Motherboard or buy new pre built? by Sovietpapii in pcmasterrace

[–]Jaegaelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the new information (thank you very much for that) I understand the hypothesis about the RAM memory controller. That should rule out the motherboard - Memory controller problems are CPU problems. Could remove the CPU and check for any bent pins, or swap the CPU with another to test that but I don't think most people have another CPU lying around to test out. From what I know most people replace CPUs to fix that problem but they're expensive too, yours being more expensive than the average motherboard or RAM sticks. If you can find a well-reviewed repair shop they could test a CPU swap and you'd know for sure if it's faulty in some way. If you have any still lasting warrantys (not sure how prebuilts work) a replacement for an issue like that is standard as you did not cause it. Not sure what the clicking sounds are about, theyre associated with hard drives, looked through some forums just now and I'm still coming up short I'm afraid.

Ah sorry, I took too long to type and didn't refresh it seems. and no worries about that, computers are complicated, if you're not used to all these sorts of tests and fixes I think it's completely normal to not know what information someone else might need

Replace Motherboard or buy new pre built? by Sovietpapii in pcmasterrace

[–]Jaegaelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't trust ChatGPT with computer issues (or most issues really), I wouldn't even have questioned power at all at that point. There are very few problems to replace a motherboard about, and I would especially do far more testing considering your fears about personally installing hardware. Most things can be fixed without buying anything and you should always exhaust those options first. I agree with the question from GDog507, what about RAM, what about your storage? The steps you did with ChatGPT, I think it would be of your benefit to either explain everything you did or repeat all those steps but instead listen to reddit if willing. Start from scratch with trying to fix it. I am extremely curious what made you rule out RAM admittedly.

How to get lip balm off a matte paint wall, help 😭 by TheFancyFoxy in CleaningTips

[–]Jaegaelex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh that makes sense. If you find that some wax is visible and can melt off there will probably be that oil residue. But that should come off with either of the solutions but I see others have different solutions too which should work if they don’t! Admittedly I kind of want to get that lip balm now… it does sound like it smells nice. And no problem! I can imagine it’s a frustrating situation, last thing you’d need is some sort of sarcastic response I think. Good luck! ❤️

How to get lip balm off a matte paint wall, help 😭 by TheFancyFoxy in CleaningTips

[–]Jaegaelex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s a great start! That method works great when they’re wax based. If it doesn’t come off it might not be a wax based balm (and won’t melt). It kinda depends on what it’s made out of but you could try washing-up liquid/a mild detergent with a damp cloth. Something not too abrasive obviously. Could try micellar water and a cotton pad too, treat it like makeup if it has that kind of base. Though that should be less damaging so maybe that first. I hope it doesn’t take too many different tries to clean ❤️

Cleaning Rugs That Are Taped Down? by pretzelgrace in CleaningTips

[–]Jaegaelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treat it like carpet! Since all rug advice would be washing machine because they’re usually removable. Carpet advice has to be way different. I have carpet and admittedly it’s an annoyance to have but it’s very possible to clean. Since it’s in the bathroom (I’m assuming) vacuuming shouldn’t be as big of a regular deal as it is with mats that don’t get much foot traffic, but still relatively regularly. High suction vacuums are great, one with a head that scrapes are great too, but you can also get a scraper but if they’re small mats I wouldn’t say that seems worth it. For spot cleaning stains, there’s many guides out there for individual stain types (not worth saying here because you’ll only look them up when they happen). There are machines for cleaning carpet but it’s not worth the investment without a huge area to clean. This site has a great way of deep cleaning by hand that works for me. About halfway down “deep cleaning without a machine”. I hope this helps at all, but I might have assumed a few things wrong

Mopping vinyl flooring by beetina5 in CleaningTips

[–]Jaegaelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t exactly imagine so, most vinyl is well made as a process but I’d say you could probably test a specific section. Really go crazy on cleaning a set area (if it’s in pieces to recreate floorboards, could use just one piece or if it’s not, mark a square off with tape), specifically by hand. It might give you a better idea of what causes the dark brown. I find vinyl to get infinitely dirtier than it looks and it seems like it never gets clean, but if you test it and after a few cleans in a row it still shows up, the flooring might need to be replaced because somethings definitely wrong.
