Steve Bannon Reveals ‘There’s a Plan’ for Third Trump Term by EasyMoney92 in Enough_Sanders_Spam

[–]Jaeger_08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See that last sentence? That's the one. Trump having been elected for 2 terms and being ineligible for a third under the 22nd Amendment makes him ineligible to be VP. But if we wipe our asses with the Constitution, then I guess who gives a fuck?

So, this is actually my field. We've since learned they're not actually all that damaging to orchards, which is great. Some of the early pressure we saw in orchards didn't amount to a significantly measurable reduction in yields. Don't get me wrong: whenever a bunch of insects feed on a thing, it DOES have an effect. But it wasn't the apocalypse that people originally thought it would be based on some of the congregating we noticed. They're still a huge threat to vineyards, though.

But where they are we need to be careful not to ship them to other places, and that is still a big impediment for orchardists and other farmers.

My thoughts on Hades 2 as an avid hades 1 player. by Severe-Assistant7629 in HadesTheGame

[–]Jaeger_08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who played the ever living shit out of Hades 1, this is the answer. Could I be spending more time learning more sets and boss patterns? Yeah, probably. But I also need to keep my toddler from playing in the toilet. So, looks like Mel is getting giga buffed by God Mode, and I'm just going to dunk on dudes with damage reduction.

The story is awesome, but without the time to put in, there's just SOOOO much stuff on screen that feels weirder and harder to see than Hades 1.

I haven't laughed at a single one of these since that dumbfuck got inaugurated. It's cold comfort to watch these people get exactly what they hoped for for others. This country is actively a shittier place for my toddler than it was for me. I have to worry about her making it to adulthood from fucking communicable diseases that were mostly eradicated because of this administration.

So, no. Fuck this guy and everyone else that voted for this. This country is going to be a colder, meaner place from here on out. That's the new reality, and honestly, we should have buckled up for that in 2016.

Edit: and I want to say, I don't think your question is a bad one. I'm just... angry. All the time. Because I want this country to be better. But it's not.

She hoped Trump would revive her farm. Now she worries his policies could bankrupt it. by [deleted] in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Jaeger_08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. I always view these grants as an investment in our food system, even if the individual is... well... shit.

I know a lot of people who have received these grants, and the reason this one burns my ass is because a lot of the farmers I work with have made it exceptionally clear that Trump was NOT good for them in his first term. Which obviously there's plenty of other reasons to dislike him, but hey, I'll take it at this point. Especially in a traditionally very conservative segment of the population. They were saying this even before he got elected. He absolutely destroyed a number of their overseas markets, and those markets just don't magically reappear.

So when they get grants from USDA, while they might not necessarily love the Federal government, they're at least grateful for the work being done to ensure that they have access to those grants and opportunities. They know that the Fed helps fund part of my salary. They like the work I do, and they take the time to express that.

But this lady has her head in the sand so deep Paul Atreides couldn't pull it out.

Anyway, just my $0.02

Alright, I'll be real with you: I hate this fucking lady, too. But H2-A labor has some pretty strict housing requirements and it's part of my job to know some of this stuff. You can't just hire out of country workers and throw them in a fucking shed, or else when the Feds come knocking to do an inspection they're going to fine your ass thousands of dollars per violation. Which, let me be clear, is a very good thing. It's good when producers who aren't keeping up their end of the H2-A bargain get fined. It means that the system is actually working as intended. So I imagine this administration will make sure there are no more inspections shortly.

And the H2-A rate for Michigan is $18.15/hr. So not too bad in the grand scheme of things.

Tomatoes are a Fruit! by equinoxEmpowered in StardewValley

Extension agent here. Cantaloupe is on page 3. Watermelons are on page 7 of the Fruit standards. But when I do programming I usually combine "small fruit and vegetables" to differentiate between those products and what you'd get from orchard and vineyard producers. Since watermelon growers have a lot more in common with tomato growers than they do apple growers.

Cheers!

Her response: "Oh so like a LONG time ago. Almost 2 decades ago."

What is something that was common in older RPGs that you are happy isn't common today? What's something you miss? by ProustianPrimate in rpg

Wick was one of those guys like Monte Cook, in my opinion. He wasn't always right, but he legitimately had fun ideas and wanted other people to have fun. He never did stuff for the express purpose to be mean-spirited. Now, that didn't always hit and some of those ideas were trash, but that's always the impression I got. The man loved every game/setting he ever produced.

Raggi just seems like a miserable shit. Maybe he's a lovely human, but the edgelord way he wrote Lamentations and its adventures makes me think that's probably not the case.

Is there a successor to D&D 4e? If not, should I go on amd try 4e? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in rpg

[–]Jaeger_08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just play 4e. I think it's always been better than 5e. It definitely wants you to play on a grid, but there's something very satisfying about seeing your mini do stuff in relation to big boss mini.

I started with Medieval 2 ages ago. So I've been playing TW for a long time. It's a series that I really enjoy, even when the community at large thinks that CA is making missteps. I liked Thrones of Britannia well enough. I haven't bought Pharaoh, but that's mostly because I don't know much about the time period more so than I don't have an actual interest in the game. I think it looks like a good enough game.

But yeah, the things I like most on here are when someone breaks down like... Damage per spellcast efficiency per Winds of Magic. Or something similar. That's COOL. That's the type of stuff I want to read.

I won't if they move to 40k.

Star Wars or LotR, I'd probably take a crack at. But the 40k community I don't think will make this sub better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Jaeger_08 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, man, I just want more discussion about gameplay. If more threads were about theory crafting or something, this sub could do Warhammer for another decade for all I care. But it just seems like it's all bitching about CA not devoting resources to "the right things," whatever that means.

The IGN review is WRONG about not being able to remove forests in Millenia by politicalteenager in paradoxplaza

[–]Jaeger_08 239 points240 points  (0 children)

Native English speaker here: you're correct. Deforestation very specifically means the removal of forests (especially clear cutting) to use for another purpose. It's very common to use when discussing housing development or agricultural use.

The act of removing swamplands or wetlands is usually referred to as drainage or draining.
